A trip to India

2022-12-06 21.19.07.jpg

Zurich Airport, Switzerland

As someone with many cultures, I long for certain contrasts that set in after some time passes, once I changed geographic locations. I can only describe it as an expansive view that widens once the realisation of the dichotomy sips in.

It's been a while since I last travelled. Specially to India. The last 3 years honestly prevented me to undertake any efforts towards such an endeavour. I was craving the adventure.

Being subjected to any mandates, seemingly being nothing else but a coercive force in being shackled into submission, meant an open invitation to the invasion of my basic freedom and liberty by the major corporations lobbying media, government agencies and international regulatory bodies behind these ridiculous narratives.

Although traveling does seems like one is being rounded up to follow rules, it's never about not approving to them or seeing them as a basic necessity for somewhat of an order. Specially when there are people that simply can't follow an order like standing in a cue. It all just raises more thoughts in me about the inefficacies and unchartered potential enhancements in concision of airport boarding procedures. To me, the feeling of the experience is more about being corralled into a group where everyone differs in the basic understanding of morals and values.

Basic acquiescences aren't questioned by plebeians. After all, compliance, conformity and obedience are very different from subordination towards present scenarios that should be viewed as modern slavery in the future. Unless everything goes wrong and turns into centrally controlled feudalism. The proletarian would rather have all responsibilities institutionalised. I digress...

I just feel as if the experience of traveling reminds me of being live stock that's being lined up. I don't see an alternative anytime soon for jetting around.

What am I doing in India?

A month of traveling and sightseeing and two months of working on an apparel brand project. Apart from that, I'm taking some yoga lessons, learning some more Hindi, Devanagari, Sanskrit, - Nāgarī script. I am also looking at job opportunities in Logistics and options to trade with various handicrafts, aligning myself with exporters here. I'm also considering to research trading with perishable commodities such as food and cosmetics.

Flights and Airports

I usually use 'skyscanner' to book flights and found some really great deals for direct flights towards the end, but unfortunately not for myself. These popped up around a week before my planed departure and these flights were cheaper than the ones I attempted to book 2-3 months in advance.

I was happy to get a direct flight for my travel partner, although she was going to arrive a few hours before on her first trip to India.

Meanwhile I was changing airports in London and catching a vistara flight to Delhi.

The safety on board video of vistara is amongst the best I have ever seen and really impressed me a lot.

The idea of calming a passenger while talking about emergencies, safety etc. seemed to take a very novel approach with Vistara airlines. Meanwhile enjoy some Yoga asanas!

Upon landing in Delhi in the morning, I took a prepaid taxi and went to my place.

In New Delhi

Classified as hazardous, the Air Quality Index or AQI frequently measures toxic values exceeding 470. It measures the concentration of very fine particles in the air. Usually anything above 300 is classified as hazardous, but Delhi is actually literally deadly. I arrived when the readings were above 600.

Nevertheless, I spent a few days in Delhi, visiting family and enjoying some culinary experiences. Mainly although home cooked food at my house.

Truly missed the vegetables and herbs in India and home cooked meals, as the veggie markets here have so much to offer.

The same Day

Right around the corner from my house, there's a small park where I used to job and workout. An old ruin located at then edge of it offers an escape from traffic noise and crowded places.

More Delhi Adventures

2022-12-14 11.30.24.jpg

Visiting Chatterpur Mandir, I took a few shots of this magnificent temple complex in south delhi, located close to Mehrauli.

Apart from this giant Hanuman statue, there were many more stunning marvels of architecture built according to vastu shashtra.

Hauz Khas

2022-12-06 21.20.56.jpg

Not really worth covering much in this first post is Hauz Khas village. I remember cycling at the bottom of the lake on this picture, as there wasn't any water there 20 years ago.

Around 17 years ago a Café opened up there called TLR. Soon there after, a bunch of night clubs, bars, ice cream parlours and several more shops started popping up there. Today it's become a hot spot in New Delhi, even making it's way to CNN. There's a so called "Wall of Fame" for Graffiti artists, where I made a tribute to Amit Saigal. Founder of the Rock Street Journal back in 2012. He had organised an event and booked me as a graffiti artist back in 2009.

These walls around Hauz Khas village have later become a hot spot for graffiti artists around the world.

On another morning we decided to walk to Qutup Minar and just pass the archeological complex without visiting. To me it's something like the Eiffel Tower of Delhi and enjoyable at a distance as well.

We went to visit the Bhool Bhulaiya instead and saw some monkeys there.
