Mother's Day Weekend at the Petroff Palace in Moscow 🏰
I’m sure many of you had childhood dreams which involved being a royal, but did you know that you can live out those dreams in Moscow?
I treated Victoria to a spa weekend at the Petroff Palace hotel to mark our first Mother’s Day together as a family. It’s probably been said a million times before, but mum’s are secretly superheroes, and they deserve a weekend off!
Petroff Palace was built in 1796 by Empress Catherine the Great to celebrate Russian victory in the Russian-Turkish war. It was mostly used to to accommodate noble guests who made the journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow.
Prince Gustav of Sweden stayed at the palace when he arrived in Moscow to marry Xenia Godunova, and Napoleon infamously used the palace as his headquarters during the 1812 invasion of Russia.
In 1999, it was given to the city of Moscow and refurbished into a hotel. Today it is managed by the Metropol Hotel and service is the same high quality.
The in-house spa centre has a pool, infrared steam room, Turkish bath and a very spacious gym. Our standard room was 6,500 RUB per night (£75) - Granted, it’s not budget, but it’s hard to pass up living like royalty at this price. If you're looking for something top shelf, the palace also offers the Peter Chambers for about £600 off-season.
