On our way back from Uluwatu temple we decided to stop and chill a bit. When we looked google up for a beach on way from Uluwatu to Seminyak where we were staying at that time, we found Padang Padang beach. We found the name interesting and reviews were good too. So we decided to spend the afternoon there, lazing around!

The view looks like a painting

Padang Padang beach is also known as Pantai Labuan Sait and is a famous surf spot in Bali. The beach has an exotic setting. The beach is a stunning one hundred-meter-long stretch of sand that is accessible down a flight of stairs that passes through a hollow rock entrance. While the climb down is exciting, the climb back up can be a challenge for those who not in the pink of their fitness.

The beach is a bit isolated. At any given point of time not more that 50 -100 tourists maximum. But they do adhere to the maxim hot and sexy. And while the beach is simply too stunning, the number of people on that beach are quite limited making it a true gold mine for a visitor.

How to get there

Padang Padang beach is very close to Uluwatu temple. Its about a 10-15 min ride from the temple. From Kuta its about 40 mins ride. And if you are coming from Ubud region it’s a good 90 minutes ride. As before we will recommend bikes over cars or jeeps. Its also about 20-30 mins from the airport, though I can’t help but wonder who might wanna come to a beach straight from the airport!! Bike rentals are available all across Bali and are very easy to find. The rates are reasonable. A bike rental to come from Uluwatu to the Beach would cost you around 50K IDR.

Entry Fee

Surprisingly its one of the rare beaches with an entrance fee. The fee is reasonable for what’s on offer. Visits to Padang Padang Beach are subject to an entrance fee of IDR 10,000 per person and an extra 5,000 IDR for the car park.

Quite and serene. Just the way one likes it !

Padang Padang Beach

There are a lot of activities to do there. While surfing is big, there a lot of other things to explore there such as various natural cave like structures, tidal swimming pools, secluded beaches and world-class waves!

Far away from the madding crowd. A moment of peace in a otherwise a very busy tourist location. Also please do remember to carry your own slippers. The beach unlike others is full of sea shells. In fact, so much that one can hardly feel the sand beneath their feet. It can be very distressing for those who are from the city and have soft feet. Also Hats, Sun-Tan Lotion, Smokes and Slippers are mandatories on this beach. Do not forget them.

The scenic beauty is stunning

Things to do

It’s also one of these all-season beaches. Anytime time is a good time to visit this place. However, for those who prefer things dry April to October seems to be a good time.

Padang Padang beach is perhaps best known as a surf spot. For those who are into surfing one can rent a surf board for 100K-150K IDR for couple of hours. In case one is new you can ask a local to accompany you. He may do it out of good will or for a tip. Also you can ask the vendors who rent the boards for someone to help you if you are new. . Although the big waves beyond the reef breaks are limited to advanced surfers, the shore is great for family fun and leisure.

They also have lots of natural caves which become accessible during low tide and the greenery around is stunning both of them can provide fodder for a lot of photo ops. There are a ton of food joints there which serve everything from stakes to sea food which you can wash down with a local Bintang Beer. All for a reasonable charge of around 50K-75K IDR.

If you are not into any of that stuff you can do what we did. Grab a drink and just chill in the water. The place is great for friends, single people or couples looking for a romantic getaway

The shacks will deliver the beer into the sea
