Kedarnath journey

A journey to Kedarnath typically begins with a visit to the town of Gaurikund, which is the starting point for the trek to the temple. From Gaurikund, the trek is 14 km and takes around 5-7 hours to complete. The trek is considered to be a moderate to difficult level hike, with some steep inclines and rocky terrain. Along the way, there are several dhabas (tea shops) and choultries (rest houses) where visitors can rest and refresh themselves.

Another way to reach Kedarnath is by helicopter, which is available from the town of Phata, which is around 20 km from Gaurikund. The helicopter ride takes around 15-20 minutes and offers stunning views of the Garhwal Himalayas.

Upon reaching Kedarnath, visitors can take a dip in the holy Mandakini river and then visit the temple to offer prayers and seek blessings from Lord Shiva. It is also common for visitors to perform the traditional parikrama (circumambulation) of the temple, which is considered to be a sacred ritual.

It's important to note that the temple is open only for a limited period of time each year, usually from April/May to November and the trek to the temple can be challenging, especially for elderly or physically challenged people. It's always recommended to check the weather and the trail conditions before planning the journey and also to carry proper clothing and equipment.
