I think colorful pictures, posting in Communities your interested in and commenting as much as you can on posts you like. I would also follow people you like and comment on their posts. I think the if you maintain the high quality of your posts (your doing a good job), a few diverse communities to broaden your base and engage via comments. Finally I follow up on the comments and the top votes on my post to say thanks and follow their blogs.
