A general overview of Labour's Day
First May is celebrated as International Worker's Day or Labour Day. In some regions of the world, it is known as May Day.
International Labour Movement promotes its celebration for workers and labourers on 1 May or the first Monday of May.
In 1889, a resolution "Great International Demonstration" for the working class demanded an Eight-hour day. In this resolution, the first of May is selected by the American Federation of Labour as a day for strike. This strike begins on 1 May and ends on 4 May in the Haymarket affair. After this demonstration, the first of May became an annual international event.
On 1 May or the first Monday of May is a public holiday. In some countries, Labour Day is celebrated other than the first May. In the United States and Canada Labour Day is celebrated on the first of September. On this day people all around the world celebrate the great achievements of the workers.
