Topic of the Post	Crypto traders in India face a new tax law under recent amendments. The Finance Minister announced that crypto gains will now be taxed under the Income Tax Act. Undisclosed crypto gains may face block assessment and penalties. This is quite similar to taxes on assets like jewelry. The new rules require traders to report crypto holdings and transactions. The amendment is not an instant rather it is followed by a discovery last December when the Minister of State for Finance found nearly $100 million in unpaid Goods and Services Tax (GST) from crypto exchanges where Binance is included in teh list. Indian authorities demanded $85 million in unpaid taxes from Binance. These penalties could reach 70% on unreported gains. ByBit recently suspended services in India due to regulatory issues. The new tax rules include that centralized exchanges must report crypto sales this year. For sharing this important news I am featuring this post this week.
