The first fast of the month of Ramadan is a special day for the Muslim Ummah. Ramadan is the month of self-connection. After eleven months, this one month of fasting arrives, and Muslims celebrate it with great joy. The first fast, in particular, brings a unique kind of happiness. After fasting throughout the day, the experience of hanging out with friends after Iftar is really beautiful. Today, I will share that experience with you, along with how my entire day went.

The early morning of Ramadan is spent in sleep. After having Sehri and offering the Fajr prayer, everyone goes back to sleep. I also have Sehri, offer the Fajr prayer, and then sleep. I wake up around 9 AM. After getting fresh, I sit down to study. Since this is a blessed month, I decide to memorize some topic-based verses of the Qur'an and Hadith during this month. So, I sit down with my book of topic-based verses and Hadith.

While I am studying, the Zuhr Adhan is heard. After the Adhan, I take a shower and offer the Zuhr prayer. Afterward, I rest a bit at home. This is how my days in Ramadan are spent, sitting at home. In Dhaka city, there aren't many places to go out, so I have to stay at home all day.

When the Asr Adhan is heard, I offer my prayer and then sit on the balcony. I had planted a few trees on my balcony. When I was in college, I could not take proper care of the plants, and they withered. It was really sad to see that.

However, there is still a Bombay chili plant that is alive. Since I was bored during the afternoon break, I watered the plant on the balcony. I really enjoy taking care of these plants. InshaAllah, after Ramadan, I will plant more trees.

This is the first time I am observing Ramadan in Dhaka city. Previously, I used to observe Ramadan either in a madrasa or in the village. One of the joys of fasting in the village is that everyone comes together to break their fast in the mosque. In the village, both young and old gather to break their fast together. However, in Dhaka city, since everyone is busy in their own way, that same communal atmosphere is not there. So, in the evening, I break my fast at home.

After finishing Iftar and offering my prayers, I returned home. Once home, a friend called and asked if I wanted to hang out after Iftar. I had some work to do at a computer shop, so I decided to go out later in the evening. At the computer shop, I completed my tasks. The main reason I went there was to prepare an invitation letter for my department's Iftar event, inviting the teachers.

After finishing the work at the shop, I messaged my friend Siam to ask where he was. He told me he was near the stadium, so I went there to meet him. Once I arrived, we sat down and chatted for a while.

Siam's friend Fahim lives nearby, so I called him, and he also joined us. The three of us sat and hung out together. But simply chatting wasn't enough, so we ordered a famous cow's milk tea from a tea stall near Mirpur 6. The tea here is quite popular, and people come from far and wide to drink it. As we sat there chatting, we also enjoyed our tea, and we became quite familiar with the tea stall owner. It was a lovely time spent there.

After finishing our tea, we stepped outside and sat at a table under the open sky, continuing our conversation. We talked about how we could make the upcoming Ramadan even better and discussed how to make good use of the time during this month. We also made a plan to create a routine that included specific portions of Quran and Hadith reading. Ramadan is a month of worship, and fulfilling our religious duties during this month is an important responsibility. With that in mind, we made plans to ensure we made the most of this month.

As we were chatting, it became time for Taraweeh prayers, so I got into my car and went back home. Once at home, I performed my Taraweeh prayers. Afterward, I went out and noticed a vegetable vendor selling his products in front of the mosque. Since no one goes to the market in the evening during Ramadan, everyone is busy with Iftar. It was common to see such vendors after Taraweeh prayers. When I reached my house, I saw a lovely sight. There was a dog standing outside under my building. Every time I return home at night, I see this dog. Today, it seemed particularly hungry. As soon as it saw me, it ran over to me. Seeing this, I felt a sense of compassion, so I gave it some bread to eat.

Thus ended the first day of fasting. After spending time with friends and hanging out, the day was quite busy but enjoyable. I hope to continue observing Ramadan in this beautiful way and make the most of the remaining days.
