It is my pleasure to show my participation on this topic organised by the user @robin42 The topic is interesting and it will add more knowledge to eveyone about what Ramadan Fasting is all about, in this contest. Will be sharing the heath benefits in Fasting in Ramadan, what items are needed to be kept at iftar and also the misconceptions of people about fasting.

I am a Christian but my family are mixed both Muslims and Christans so I live amidst muslims therefore I know and have idea on almost all that has to do with the Muslim brethren.

What are the health benefits of fasting in Ramadan?

On a normal, everything done in a proper way has a lot of blessings attached. In this month of Ramadan, if one observes the fasting under a supposed condition, it offers alot of health benefits and these benefits are:

It improves our digestive system in the sense that, when you fast, there is a break in the system , fasting allows the system to rest and after that it recover by itself again.

Fasting helps and work on our weight, fasting manages our weight by giving us a balancing weight some of us would wis and love to have. If one does not eat much during non fasting hours, fats in the body can get burnt and then improves the metabolic substances in tye body.

Fasting has spiritual benefits too, fasting is not all about the physical but is about the spiritual. It makes one have self-discipline and makes one to be mindful of all he or she does.

What items do you keep at Iftar?

This depends on our individual differences but what I know my brothers and sisters are always keeping at iftar is different kinds of fruits and also water which will pave way in the empty intestines before thinking of getting a solid food.

Do you prefer to have Iftar with your family members?

A big yes because there is a great unity, love and bonds while fining with family members. Love is seen and love is attached when family seats together to eat together. Even if there are unresolved problems within the family members should be resolved before the Holy month of Ramadan. So it is good to have Iftar with family members.

What are people's misconceptions about fasting?

There are alot of misconception about fasting which I am going to mention few.

The first misconception is the citing of the moon in which some people say that islamic fasting does not have calenders so no specific date and that is like that because Muslims do not use Calender for Gregorian.

Some people say Muslims eats in the morning before starting their fast therefore should not be seen as a fast. Infact my muslim family members don't use heavy foods in the morning which is Sahur.

Lastly, another misconception about fasting is some Muslims that are into alcoholic lifestyle might keep drinking even in the Holy Ramadan month.

I invite my friends to ready and show their participation, thank you for reading.

Nothing can be compared to dining with our family during fasting, it helps us to stay connected and helps us to keep our fire of love burning both within us and among other.
