Practising agriculture even with limited space and resources

in Steem For Lifestyle2 months ago

Agriculture practiced by our forefathers which made use of crude tools was mostly land rotation due to land availability. Then we moved to our modern era where farm machines is used.
Sadly population increase has made it that food produced as a result of agriculture can not meetup the population target due to land tenure system and insufficient finances.
For a family or person to provide food for himself or his family farming is important be it crop production or livestock rearing.

I sat down and recollected, thinking how i can farm even with the limited resources i possess. Hence i venture into bagged or potted planting of crops

Since renting of land is expensive, bagged farming helped me cultivate some crops which i control and regulate the growth rate of the plants. I am happy to inform you that the first batch of tomato, pepper and cucumber plants i cultivated had bear fruits which i harvest.

I even sold the surplus so that I can procure the necessary agrochemicals i need for even better harvest.

You might ask what's the need, after harvesting,I will wait for next planting season. I will tell you NO!
If you plant in bags ,you can cultivate all through the year without stopping as long as you have manure to apply on intervals, water source mostly during dry season to provide moisture for the plants, and pesticides for pest attack, then you are good to go.

Just to let you know ,i have started my second phase of farming, which is tomato and maize. So the upcoming festive season on December i will be harvesting and eating them even out of season 😊 😁

Using this avenue, i invite my friends @fortwis09, @eveetim, @bessie2023 to share with us any kind of agricultural activities that there were engaged on or are planning to embark on.

Wow, what an inspiring journey! 🌱🌟 Your innovative approach to bagged planting is impressive! 🥳 It’s amazing how you’ve turned limited resources into a thriving harvest of tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers! 🍅🌶️🥒Cultivating year-round is such a smart strategy, especially with the right care and management! 💧🌿 Can’t wait to hear about your second phase with tomatoes and maize—sounds delicious for the festive season! 🎉😋 Keep up the great work! 🙌💚

Thank you sincerely for the encouragement to ensure we all try our best to eat mostly fresh and organic vegetables. I promise that the yield of the second phase will be better than before 😊

My pleasure brother!

Great job! Your tomatoes and cucumbers look wonderful! In the United States, we call this "urban farming," which is an art I practiced for several years living in an apartment before moving to where I live now. The biggest thing is natural lighting; as long as you have some form of it, it's not cold, and you have fertilizer, everything should work well.
