Culinary activities are not just a task because cooking is much more than that, and I have a passion for it. It is one of the things I love to do and I derive pleasure in testing my creativity in the kitchen. Today, I gladly join the cooking contest by @solaymann called “My Cooking Skills” and present one of the staple recipes in my list. I get to innovate as the food is being cooked and preparing this dish is a means of saying that I love preparing every meal in this kitchen. I truly think that combining the correct elements in a plate can make magic and I surely, would like to serve this yummy dish.
Prawn Malai Curry. |
---|
The dish I’m sharing today is Prawn Malai Curry, it is the most favorite dish in my list. It is very rich and creamy; its taste is enhanced by the sweetness of Prawns making it as tasty as it could be. Prawn Malai Curry is actually my favored one and is widely popular in the whole of the Indian subcontinent more specifically within Bengali cuisine. The dish is popular due to the delicious fragrance of coconut milk and different spices, and it is difficult to separate people from such a gravy. It has global service coverage because it enjoys the right balance different tastes, plus the fact that it can transform any ordinary meal into a great dinner.
Number | Materials | Quantity |
---|---|---|
1 | Prawns | 1/2 kg |
2 | Chopped onions | (1 medium) |
3 | Ginger paste | 2 tbsp |
4 | Garlic paste | 2 tbsp |
5 | Onion paste | 2 tbsp |
6 | Coconut paste | 2 tbsp |
7 | Salt | To taste |
8 | Chilli powder | 1/2 tea spoon |
9 | Turmeric powder | 1/2 teaspoon |
10 | Almond and cashew nut paste | 2 tbsp |
11 | Sour yogurt | 1 tbsp |
12 | Coconut milk | 1/2 cup quantity |
13 | Hot spices bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom | as needed |
14 | Cooking oil | as needed |
15 | sugar | as needed |
I properly washed the prawns, and afterwards added a little salt to it mixed with a pinch of turmeric.. Then I sautéed them in a pan with an appropriate amount of oil to the outside giving it the golden finish.
In the other pan, I added a enough oil and heated the oil. To this, I added whole spices: Cardamom, cinnamon and bay leaves. After the spices began to give out the aroma I chopped onions and sautéed them till they become caramel in color. Next, I included the onion paste, ginger paste, and garlic paste into the gravy and cooked until the whole masala became well-roasted and had a pleasant aroma.
When the base masala was ready I added the almond and cashew nut paste and then the coconut paste and mixed all the ingredients. I also decided to stir a pinch of chili powder to introduce a tiny spice to the mix.
Once the masala has been cooked for a while I added the sour yogurt and continued to fry the mixture until the oil floated on the top of the mixture showing that the masala was ready.
Once I had prepared the masala I put the fried prawns into the pan and stirred gently incorporating them in the masala. After allowing the prawns to absorb the rich flavors of the masala I put enough coconut milk to achieve the consistency of curry gravy. After that I added pinch of sugar to enhanced the taste. I cooked the curry at medium heat until the prawn was well done, and the broth had thickened to the required level.
Finally, I switched off the flame and my Prawn Malai Curry was prepared to garnish with coriander leaves and serve, the aroma of curry was blended well with creaminess which goes well with steamed rice or bread.

Hi @aspiya, thank you so much for mentioning me! I had the chance to see and confirm how you apply your passion for cooking. I’m truly amazed at how well you handle yourself in the kitchen. Your skill is also evident in the care you put into this post, which feels almost like a recipe book, precise in both its descriptions and the choice of photos. I was really struck by the lighting you chose for each shot, clearly showing every step.
Kudos for the photography too, I know it’s not easy to take these kinds of pictures while cooking! I was wondering, did someone help you with the photos, or did you do everything on your own? I don’t think you had any assistance because the precision and attention to detail make me believe you managed everything yourself.
The only thing missing is being able to taste this wonderful dish! The last photo is truly inviting.
