Stress and your body
Stress may be hard to define because it means different things to different people; however, it’s clear that mostly stress is a negative feeling rather than a positive feeling. In that regards,let me define stress as a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. In other word,stress is your body's reaction to a challenge or demand.
What are the Symptoms of stress??
Stress can affect how you feel emotionally, mentally and physically, and also how you behave.
Emotionally: you may feel;
- Overwhelmed
- Irritable and "wound up"
- Anxious or fearful
- Lacking in self-esteem
Mentally: - Racing thoughts
- Constant worrying
- Difficulty in concentrating
- Difficulty in making decisions
Physically - Headaches
- Muscle tension or pain
- Dizziness
- Sleep problems
- Feeling tired all the time
- Eating too much or too little
- High blood pressure
- Skin problems,such as acne/eczema
- Menstrual problems
How you may behave when you are stressed??
- Drinking or smoking more
- Snapping at people
- Avoiding things or people you are having problems with
Here are some signs that too much of stress may be affecting you:
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Forgetfulness
- Frequent aches and pains
- Headaches
- Lack of energy or focus
- Sexual problems
- Stiff jaw or neck
- Tiredness
- Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
- Upset stomach
- Use of alcohol or drugs to relax
- Weight loss or gain
So when you experience some of the above listed,it may firstly be classified as been too stressed before any further diagnosis. In my next post, I’ll give us tips to reduce/control stress.
