Hello everyone! I hope all of you are doing great. Today my main focus would be the role of an AI engineer in IT, and also I will discuss what an AI engineer actually is. First of all, I want to tell you that the demand for AI engineers and people with AI skills is increasing day by day, as more and more companies are realizing the evolution and advancement of different AI models, they are looking for people who are specialists in this domain. Many organizations are realizing the importance of AI in their lives and are dependent on people with AI expertise to help them achieve their tasks. Now, let's get into what an AI engineer is and what role do they perform.

An artificial intelligence engineer is responsible and capable of developing new applications and models based on the techniques and skills they have, which include software development skills as well as different machine learning techniques such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Neural Networks. As we know that AI itself is a domain full of many subdomains, each having its own complexity, so an AI engineer should not only have the capability to develop new applications but must also have the ability to solve problems that arise in those applications. They develop different models and applications and then deploy them, and they keep an eye on their maintenance and take important decisions accordingly. They are important in the field of Information Technology as they have a unique skill of challenging different problems using the traditional logic of software development and merging it with machine learning skills.

Few tasks and responsibilities that are expected to be completed by an AI engineer are mentioned below:

• They must be able to create different logic and reasoning using AI techniques.
• They use AI and Machine Learning skills to test the models they are developing.
• They know when a model is ready to be deployed and are responsible for taking care of its maintenance and checking its accuracy.
• By using skills they have of Machine Learning, they can lead many processes towards automation.
• They utilize their traditional software development skills and combine them with AI and Machine Learning.\
• They train their models on a variety of data using machine learning skills. They also create models which are only capable of doing a specific task such as image recognition and voice recognition.
• Upgrading systems and making them efficient enough so that they can monitor and control the development processes.

An AI engineer should possess technical skills but with that, they must also have soft skills. Soft skills for them are important as they are problem solvers and they must be able to convey their decisions efficiently.

• Achieving their objectives and tasks using reasoning, logic, and problem-solving skills.
• They have a grasp over a number of programming languages, the most common ones are Python and R. These languages are usually used in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
• AI engineers are also familiar with different libraries and packages.
• Here, coding is involved too, but with that, they must have proficiency in some mathematical skills such as statistics and probability, as they are required to check or predict the accuracy of their models.
• They must think of new ways of how they can use machine learning in such a way that will benefit the organization.
• AI engineers must be creative and should try to think outside of the box to come up with new ideas that are beneficial to the organization.
• They must understand the profit and loss of the company, and put forth those ideas which would add value to the company's reputation and would help in increasing their profit.
• The most important one is communication skills, if you lack this skill then your technical skills are also of no use. Because you have to talk to many different people working in groups, you have to coordinate with the data specialists and see if they are delivering data from the right sources. Apart from this, you must be able to explain to your clients, the public, and the company how your AI model or application is going to work and how will it provide benefit.

With the growth of AI in businesses, the demand for AI engineers will keep increasing. And if one has a good grip on software development and is well experienced in it, he or she must know different programming languages and must have used different machine learning libraries somewhere between their learning process, and so they can easily do a transition towards AI engineering and adopt and practice the skills required to become an expert of Artificial Intelligence Engineering.
