Everyone knows about the benefits of modern technology, but what about the potential drawbacks? For example, how does it affect our sleep patterns? How does it affect our ability to relate to other people? Does it make us lonelier? If you think about these kinds of questions, it’s actually pretty easy to imagine a life without modern technology and see that it might not be as bad as you initially thought! Here are some reasons why I believe we’d be better off without modern technology in our lives.

The Internet

Who needs a library when you have Wikipedia? Most of us can find pretty much any information we need on our phones. And with GPS, you don't have to ask for directions.. Modern tech is definitely making our lives easier. Technology has come along way, but does that mean we’re actually happier now than our grandparents were before all these cool new gadgets came along? Some people say yes, others say no.

Social Media

When you were a kid, you probably didn’t think that you’d need social media in your adult life. And yet, here we are. Technology has turn out to be part of our ordinary lives. In fact, some people can’t function without their smartphones; they go to bed with them and wake up with them—and that includes being in touch with coworkers and clients. Are there other ways to stay in touch? Of course!

Self-Driving Cars

The self-driving car revolution could have a huge impact on society as we know it. Autonomous vehicles won’t have to drive humans, so they could pick up multiple passengers per trip, making commuting faster and more efficient. They’ll also make roads safer by removing drivers from potentially dangerous situations (not to mention dramatically reducing collisions), which will mean fewer traffic jams and smog-filled streets.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Our reliance on AI is only going to increase in coming years. Although AI can save us time and make us more efficient, it’s important to remember that computers aren’t infallible. It’s very possible that a computer could input false information and deceive those depending on its results, with disastrous consequences.
