How to Protect Folder & Files without Using any Software

Currently security is the major issue in the field of Information technology. Everyone wants to secure their information from others.

If you have some important files in your system and you want to protect them by access of other users, then this is the simplest way to protect your files by password without using third party software or tool.

Before we get started, we should offer a warning – while this method is simple and effective, it's not intended for large-scale or heavy files security

Step 1

To a demo project Create a new folder where you will paste your all files you want to make secure. And then Right-click on the folder and choose Properties

Step 2

Go to the General tab and then Click on the Advanced button.

Step 3

Under Compress and encrypt attributes section, check Encrypt content to secure data.

Click OK, then close the Properties window. Apply this option to all folders and subfolders and files present in that folder.

Step 4:

Create a backup of your encryption key for added security. Windows will ask you, to back up your encryption key right after you encrypt the folder.

Click Back up your encryption key pop up when you see the prompt. Choose Back up now.

Choose a place where you’ll save your encryption key. Now your files are secure and nobody can access all these files.

You can also do the same process for the decryption of the security of that folder with same steps any time by Just untick the "Encrypt contents to secure data" checkbox and click OK to close the windows.

Checkbox to see information about the encryption certificate and available recovery procedures.
