SMARTPHONE MOBILE APPLICATIONS

Most users on the Steemit platform are armed with a smart mobile phone to make calls, text messages, connect with the internet and run applications.

Mobile applications on these smartphones are vital as they have wide range of uses which broadly classify them into apps for:
• Entertainment: Such as the native video and music players for each phone, YouTube, Spotify, Audio Mack e.t.c
• Social Media: Includes WhatsApp, Facebook and Telegram.
• Photography
• Games, and
• Internet access... amongst others.

MY FAVORITE APP

Mobile apps on smartphones are indispensable and unique from each another. Most apps are capable of carrying out a given task satisfactorily, based on its design and category as I listed above.
Therefore, the choice of a favorite mobile app is tough and is subject to change depending on the app's relevance to your area of work, academic field and level and one's need for interaction..e.t.c

My favorite mobile app is Telegram. This is due to its relevance to me as an undergraduate student in a campus environs, and its plethora of amazing features that had endeared me to it.

As the contest demands, I will lucidly explain the special features of the app that qualify it as my favorite, as well as the pros and cons one might expect to encounter while using the app.

Telegram is a social media application for interaction and communication over the internet on smartphones. It shares some similarities with other social media apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook and SnapChat.
It offers free instant messaging services, voice and video call tools and lots more!!!

SPECIAL FEATURES :

• Large group chats and channels accommodating up to 5,000 capacity members: This is a very useful tool to me, as an undergraduate student who needs to join departmental online classes which a normal WhatsApp groupchat fails to contain due to capacity restraint.

•Global search tool🔎: This feature in addition to the local search abilities for contacts, permits a user to search a public group chat or channel and join. This ensures faster access to important info circulating in those group chats or channels.

•Telegram Channels: A unique feature of telegram in which one can subscribe to a channel and be able to view and post images,videos and files minus the comments involved in a typical groupchat.

• Telegram Bots: Telegram Bots are computer programs which are capable of sending automated messages on group chats, sending and retrieving data as well as executing simple tasks.

• Telegram Secret Chat service: Telegram offers users a secret end to end encrypted chat where sensitive content can be sent and received. A self destruct timer can be activated on the chat and No screenshot is permitted in such chats.

SUMMARY

PROS

The advantages and uses of telegram, stem off these vast unique features, one can harness these features and apply them in business and/ or education by capitalizing on the large group sizes, telegram Bots and global search tools to gain access to vast resources.
I encourage everyone to download the app and tap into its wealth.

CONS

Telegram has a few notable limitations due to its features. A major limitation one can easily observe is in the bulk of it's group chats. Note that the contents of group chats are not limited to time when a user joins.

Hence, the messages and files from these super-sized group chats can be quite cumbersome and might be a burden on a user's data usage. A problem with keeping up with an important piece information in these group chats which might get lost amidst a large number of messages should also be expected.

In summary, I believe the pros outweigh the cons and hence I can boast that my choice of Telegram as my favorite mobile app is satisfactorily defended.
