How cassava flakes are produced||by @vericagr
Hi great people of steemit-Garden community, today I will like to post on the method on how cassava flakes commonly known as 'Garri' in my country #Nigeria is produced.
Introduction
Firstly, cassava flakes are commonly known as garri to the Nigerian understanding and it's gotten from cassava plant which is being cultivated using it stem.
Cassava plant can grow up to and average height of about 5meter before maturity.
Some stem can mature between 6months while others can take up to one year before maturity.
Cassava plant is a tuber crop commonly grown in a place where water is sufficient and it can grow in any soil except sandy and rocky soil.
Cassava leaf can be fed to herbivores livestock like goats, sheep, and cow
Cassava just like all other tuber crops will decay if it is not harvested before it life-span expired.
how cassava flakes is produced
*Harvest the cassava from the soil either with machine or manually
*Then peel off the cover and with knife and then wash it in water.note: you can do this manually or with machine
*Then wash the peeled cassava with clean water.
*Put it in a grinding machine and grind it
*Put the grinded cassava in a bag that will allow the release of water and pressed out the water from the cassava.you can add red palm oil to make you cassava flakes yellowish.
*After you have finished pressing out water from the cassava sieve out the particles that remain from the cassava grinding with a sievers
*Then you can start frying you cassava flakes now using a pot that looks like this
Or you can simply used machine to fry it.
*After frying your cassava. You can package it and sell for either sipping or for eating with soup
*Cassava flakes is the most sorted after food in my country after rice, to prove this a price increase in a cup can lead to inflation in the country.
