Farming season

Farming season is a time to get busy. Before we start farming there are elders who will be selected to go and check the part of bush that is matured for the year's farming. Then they will go with food and pieces of yam. The essence of the food is called (food for ndi ichie) they will not be the one to eat the food, they used to drop it in a road that have 4 ways and slice some pieces of yam there, while some used to go with tortoise and drop on the 4 way road. The food is been put in a small mould plate with stainless cover. That food is for the elders of the land that have died and that's tradition.

After that they will proceed to clear a part where they will follow to get to where the land stopped. And that's the first process. The second time they will then be giving out the land portion by portion according to age grade and how each person registered to the village association. Farm is being given to those who are if age and have responsibility. And before any land is been given make sure you are not owing any debt be it wedding contribution, burial or during the time of palm fruit harvest.

Village elders normally give date when each bush will be cleared and if any one default, he will fined or his own farm land will be sold to another person.
