Greetings 🤗 Steemit Iron Chef community!Hope you all are well and spending your time with your loved ones 💕.This is the second week of steemit engagement challenge season 16 and I am super excited to participate in this contest. This contest is my favourite because I am a biryani lover and no other dish can take its place in my heart ❤️.Today I will share my recipe of biryani with you guys and I am feeling happy by sharing my experience of cooking biryani.A few days ago I made biryani which was very tasty 😋 every member of the family enjoyed it alot saying thanks to me for making this delicious 😋🤤 meal. I will share the picture of biryani taken by me.

Ingredients for Chicken Biryani:

2 cups basmati rice
500g chicken, cut into pieces
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup yogurt
4 tablespoons ghee or oil
1/4 cup chopped cilantro (coriander leaves)
1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
Whole spices (cardamom, cloves, cinnamon)
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon biryani masala
Salt to taste
Fried onions for garnish (optional)

Construction Steps:

1.Rinse the basmati rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.

2.In a large pot, bring water to boil. Add the soaked and drained rice, cook until it's 70% cooked. Drain the water and set aside.

3.In a separate pan, heat ghee/oil. Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown. Remove half for later garnish.

4.Add ginger-garlic paste to the remaining onions, sauté until the raw smell disappears. Add chicken pieces, cook until they are browned.

5.Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes are soft and the oil separates.

6.Mix in yogurt, biryani masala, and half of the chopped cilantro and mint. Cook until the chicken is tender.

7.In a heavy-bottomed pot, layer half of the partially cooked rice, followed by the chicken masala, and then the remaining rice.

8.Sprinkle the remaining cilantro, mint, and fried onions. Drizzle ghee on top.

9.Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the rice to cook completely.

10.Once done, gently fluff the biryani with a fork. Serve hot, garnished with additional fried onions if desired.
