#PURPLEMONDAY: #FOODCOLORCHALLENGE : PUTO BUMBONG
Hello everyone! A #purplemonday to you all.
You know Christmas and Misa de Gallo is just around the corner if you see this streetfood. This is only served during the holidays here in the Philippines.
Puto Bumbong is made of sweet purple sticky rice called Pirurutong and traditionally served with margarine, muscovado and coconut on a banana leaf.
Ground pirurutong is steamed in the tube.The sticky rice turns dark purple when done.
I bought this in a stall that offers additional toppings like toasted sesame seeds, cheese, condensed milk and leche flan. Too bad the leche flan ran out of stock when it was my turn.
