It another new week with new learning challenge. After digesting my teacher's explanation on Gelatin . I was motivated to submit my homework task for the week.

Have you ever prepared gelatin at home? Tell us about your experience.

This is my frist time of hearing that name gelatin and this is My Frist time of making it. It may be because I was not passionate for any pastry as I frequently got them from supermarket to have fun with my family. When I read this challenge every week, I learned some new things and I really enjoyed it because for the past three to four weeks now, I am exposed to different ingredients in pastry world.

From this week's learning challenge, I have learnt that gelatin is edible substance that comes in powdery form and it's texture is like a jelly that is used in preparation of some desserts such as custard and other edibles. It has a lot of health benefits to the body such as vitamins, minerals and protein. It was a great privilege to carry out this unique process by my self.

Make a creative gelatin, you can use fruits, creams, sweets, cream, cocoa, coffee among others (detail utensils, ingredients and step by step).

In gelatin making, I use the available fruit in the house which was Banana and I don't lack it at home because it is My favourite fruit.

Ingredients Use

  • Gelatin red coloured

  • Condensed milk

  • Fruits (banana)

  • Water

After washing my pot, I boiled half of my water in a pot and added the gelatine. When the water began to boil, I gently stirred it until all the granules was dissolved in the water.

I added the remaining water to the mixture and allowed it to cool for some minutes.

I transferred some into a mold, put in the fridge and allow it to cool.

My next process was adding of condensed milk and my chopped banana.

Did you have any difficulty making your gelatin?


Although, this is my frist time of making gelatin, l did not experience any difficulties because l followed my teacher's instruction on how to do it.

To make new things, it is advisable to abide by the rules and regulations given, using the same measurements or half of the exact measurements.

I enjoyed making gelatin, I didn't have any issues while doing that. Special thanks to my teacher for Comprehensive lessons.

Ensure to put gel gelatine into water to soft before use. Allow the gelatin settle after dissolving in hot water by adding extra water to it and allow to cool off completely.

I think the most practical and important advice when making gelatin is to consider the quantity of water to add be adding so much of it would cause a deformation of jelly during the process. This means it is advisable to stick to the accurate measurements.

If you want to mix it with freshly cut fruit, try to mix it after the gelatin is cooked so the fruit doesn't spoil late.

Be patient to have a perfect gelatin.

I have shared this dessert with my husband and my daughter, two of them made up my immediate family so as such, they are the frist to enjoy all the delicacies I made.

It was extremely delighted when I told them to have a taste of what they have not seen or tasted before. The frist to come out of my baby was ...."Yummy yummy yummy! 😋,Mum I like it". I was delighted to hear her.
