Today, I am going to share with you the recipe for Coconut Puli Pitha, a traditional delicacy of Bangladesh. As a Bangladeshi, this pitha is one of my favorites. This is my first attempt at making it. Without further ado, let’s see how I made it.
Step 01
First, I took the required amount of rice flour and heated some water in a pot to prepare the dough. Once the dough was ready, I used a rolling pin to smooth it out. This process is similar to making flatbreads. Kneading the dough properly is crucial here. Then, I shaped the dough into small, round portions.
Step 02
Next, I grated some coconut and cooked it well with sugar, bay leaves, and cardamom. This mixture is essential for making coconut pitha.
Step 03
After that, I flattened the dough into small circles, using a glass to cut out the shape. I took each circular piece in my hand, placed a portion of the coconut filling in the middle, folded it, and pressed the edges to seal them. For some pithas, I added hand-designed patterns to the edges. After shaping all the pithas, I moved on to the next step.
Step 04
I then heated a pan on the stove with a generous amount of oil. Once the oil was hot, I deep-fried the pithas until they were golden and crispy. I repeated this process for all the pithas. This is how I made my Coconut Puli Pitha.

Amiga, esta receta está genial. Más o menos así se hacen las empanadas en Venezuela, pero en lugar de rellenar la masa con coco, se rellena con guisos de carne o de pescado. Es decir, es un plato salado, y no dulce como el que nos presentas. Me encantó leerte. Suerte.
