My adorable mother

Parents are the foundation to everyone's live. Before you came to existence it was through our parents. They are the pillar to all of us right from the time we were conceived in the womb. Growing up as a child I was raised by a single mother who showed me all the love, care and taught me many lessons which I adhere to today. I love her without boundaries.

👪 How did your parents shape your personality?

My mother is everything to me as she played the parent role in my life in every aspects. This made me not have the feeling of wishing to have my father around because I had it all.

With her heart of gold and boundless love, she nurtured me from birth, took care of me with all love and attention (then she had us twins) and supported my every growth step. She taught me the right from the wrongs. I can remember her flogging me when I did the wrong things. Appreciated the good things I did and taught me many more good things even through stories.

This care was completed with my lovely grandparents guidance. Even in their dead I still remember the many lessons they taught me especially the virtues of being humble, kind, hospitality, gentle, peaceful and loving to everyone one. They did this by example and I watched them show love and kindness to everyone in the community especially visitors who came to the house. They never argued or taught with anyone which has made me avoid all form of trouble and live a peaceful life. With this my growing environment was peaceful and loving hence bringing forth the better part of me.

👪 What role do your parents play in your overall well-being?

I am proud to say I had s great home because everything I do today I learned from my parents. My mother played her part of guidance and direction for my every activity. Teaching me how to do the right thing at the right time and to distinguish good from evil. She was the one who taught me how to clean, cook and do my house chores well. It was always divided and each person had turns in weeks to do activities. This enabled us do the chores well with time.

One thing which my parents build on me was the spirit of hard work, truthfulness, patience, and love. They were never seen doing things contrary to these things. For example, my grandfather had two wives but I have never seen the wives or children fight and quarrel like others do. Growing up I didn't know about the two wives situation and which child was who's until I was around 15 years old. This is because love was instituted in the family by my grandfather and so peace and love always reigns even now. This is a great example and I admire so much and with this I am a better version of myself at any given situation.

👪 How do your parents encourage your dreams and aspirations?

My mother is my gisting partner although sometimes I am scared of her reaction to what I say sometimes but I just let it out. My mother has been my biggest pillar and inspiration to anything I do. All my achievements I give thanks to her for all the support and encouragement. All through my life she has supported me in my darkest and brightest moments especially with education and other challenging life experiences. She has always supported my dreams and make it possible for me to achieve them.

With all her love and support I remain pushful in everything so I can make her proud and put a smile on her face. Making her smile and happy always is my main priority and that's the only thank you I can give her for all the support and sacrifices.

👪 Share an experience that highlighted your parents' sacrifices for you?

There have been many sacrifices made by my parents especially my mother to make me who I am today. The most important is sending me to school.

Education is a very important thing to every growing child and so I got the privilege to attend the best school in my town. As a single mother she wanted to give me the best of life when it concerns education. Unknown to me she decided to send me to the only boarding house in the community and the most prestigious too. As a school drop out she earned very little and didn't have any much to save but she still did. With her diligence and hardwork she was able to see me through 7 years in the boarding house. I also made her proud by doing well in school right up to the university.

She was overjoyed at the graduation of my professional training program in agriculture when I emerged overall 2nd and remain amongst the best in class throughout my school time in the university.

She has been my inspiration and so giving the best in my education was the least I could do to say thank you for all the love and sacrifices she's made along with the entire family. With these virtues I am proud to say I am the most loved child in the family as everyone loves me just like I love them too. Our parents are our fountain of love and no one care love and care for us like the do. The least we can do is appreciate and reciprocate their love and sacrifices.
