Steemit Engagement Challenge | S7W1 | My Favorite Festival

Good day, Steemians. It's another season of the engagement challenge and I'm super excited to be here again and drop my first-ever entry for this season's challenge in this community. The topic for today's discussion is My Favorite Festival. I assume we all have some festivals we love and always look forward to and today I will be sharing my favorite festival with you, how it is celebrated, and what we do before and during the festival period.
My Favorite Festival
My favorite festival that I always look forward to is known as Christmas. Christmas festival can be called a festival and celebration of love because it is done in remembrance of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ whom God sent to us because of His love for mankind for everyone to be saved and have eternal life.

It is a season of joy, love, and hope as Christ's birth brought joy and peace to everyone with the hope of having everlasting life and also a season of gift as His birth is a gift to everyone and also encourages people to show their love by sharing and giving to one another and the less privileged.
What kind of preparations do you do before the festival?
Many things are always done in preparation for the Christmas festival and some of the preparation includes shopping for what is needed for the house, offices, stores, church, filling stations, and popular places decorations which include ribbon, Christmas tree ornament, garland, wreaths candles, Santa Claus figure, Christmas light, etc, after getting all these comes using them to decorate all these places and these decorations beautify the places they are used on and tells people it's Christmas period.

Also, there will be toys and wristwatches on sale for kids which are programmed to be singing Christmas songs, and also caps for both adults and kids during the period which tells us we are in the Christmas period.
When does it start and end?
I can say Christmas begins in the first week of December because that is when people start decorating and Christmas songs are played at the interval on the radio and television and it ends on the 25th of December which is on Christmas day.
What do you do at your festival?
Many things are being done at the Christmas festival and I will be discussing them below.
Taking Kids to Santa Claus: Santa Claus is a legendary figure of father Christmas whose aim is to play and have a great time with children and give gifts to the kids. The practice has been on since I was born, each school or popular park arrange for someone to dress in a look-alike of Santa Claus and the parent takes their children to meet Santa, play a series of games with Santa, dance, and at the end collect some gifts from Santa. It is something most kids look forward to once it is Christmas period though some do get afraid of Santa but go because of the gifts.

Christmas Carol: This is a program organized by churches in which believer sings and dance to hymns and religious songs in celebration of the birth of Christ Jesus. It is done in one accord, humility, joy, and love which involve sharing of gifts between one another. There is sharing of candles towards the end of the program, whereby everyone will light their candle, then the light will go off and everyone will sing a hymn titled Silent Night.

Christmas Eve: This is a program done in preparation and commemoration of His birth and it is done at night because we believe Jesus was born at night. It involves singing, drama, scripture reading, and listening to the word of God about His birth. Some churches did both the carol and Christmas eve a day before Christmas while some do it on a different day.
Christmas Day Program: This is a thanksgiving program about the birth of Christ and messages about the purpose of his birth after the church thanksgiving program comes celebrations at every home.
How do you celebrate this festival?
The celebration includes cooking a variety of dishes, families gathering together, and having wonderful time dining, wining, talking, and laughing. Giving to the needy and less privileged which can be the festival food or money, cloth, and other things that will be useful to them.
Conclusion
Christmas festival is one festival that I always look forward to because it is one of the time I spend good time with my complete family, my siblings will be back home from school and we will have time to celebrate the festival together, extended family and friends from different religion also will be around to celebrate Christmas festival with us. Kids also look forward to it because that is the only time they can see and visit Santa Claus in a year and play with him. Thank you for reading
