"One Picture And One Story Week #59".
Just call her 'dewi'. A ten-year-old child lives with her mother in an old, uninhabitable hut. Her father has long passed away, when Dewi was four years old, her father had a serious illness until he died.
Now, she and her mother live together with her toddler brother and she helps her mother earn a living to support their lives and for her school fees. Her mother works as a household assistant in a rich person's house and during the day her mother makes cakes for the child to sell around.
When Dewi comes home from school, she will change into old clothes because she can't afford new ones. All her clothes are given by her employer where her mother works. Dewi hopes to be able to buy new, nice clothes with her own money. She feels sad when certain days like Eid, everyone and the other children prepare new clothes, new shoes and new bags.
But this poor child can't buy new clothes and can only wear other people's used clothes, her mother doesn't have any extra money to buy new clothes. The income from her salary and the money from selling was enough to cover their daily needs, Dewi's school fees and also the cost of renting a house.
Poor thing, her mother was very sad because she couldn't make her two children happy. Let alone buying luxury goods, she couldn't even afford new clothes for her little one.
When Eid arrived, Dewi went to a cheap clothes shop. She bought two pairs of clothes, one for herself and one for her little sister. How happy she was, she couldn't express it in words, she could only be grateful because she could buy new clothes, so she could be like other children.
She bought the clothes with her savings, she always saved from the pocket money her mother gave her when she went to school. Dewi always had a strong determination that if we want to try, then we definitely can.
Intention, effort, determination and prayer will produce good results.
