I hope all of you guys will be doing well and enjoying the time with grace of Allah Almighty. Today I’m here to present article about Media Freedom in my country. I live in a Pakistan. Here Media is not fully independent. I want to tell you all the reasons of this . First i want to tell you 5 Big Media outlets in Pakistan, Geo news ,Ary Digital, Express news ,Sama News and Bol news .

Whichever political party comes to power in Pakistan, it first controls the media. Due to which the media is not free at all. They only talk about their good performance on the media. Still the situation is very bad, whatever the media talks about the government is put in jail with false cases.

The constitution of Pakistan guarantees freedom of speech and press but the reality is different. According to report of media index Pakistan ranked 145th out of 180th in world press freedom index that reported in 2021.

Journalist in Pakistan also faces different challenges including harassment, violence and family torcheres . Recently Journalist Arshad Sharif exposed corruption in Pakistan and those who stole the country’s money and transferred it out of the country, which led to him being driven out of Pakistan and later killed. From this you can imagine how free the media is in Pakistan.

Government regulations on media content: Are there restrictions on certain topics ?
Yes, The government has power to regulate the media content in the country. Pakistan electronic media regulatory authority (PEMRA) is responsible to take action against media outlets that violence the rules of restrictions on media such as, criticism on government and army, pornography , false information , false information about Islam . Print and electronic media is also responsible to follow these restrictions from the government of Pakistan.
Media bias and political influence: Do you think media outlets lean towards specific ideologies or not?

Fundamentally, some people believe that certain media channels have a bias and prefer towards one political ideology over another. This can be create a problems as it can influence people’s thinking about some issues. In my opinion, media outlets tend to lean towards certain ideologies that claim to provide justice. However, due to the influence of political parties, they prioritize certain types of news and topics. This takes the form of a particular social or political theory .
To avoid any possible bias, it is important to obtain news through various sources.
Media ownership and concentration: Who owns major media outlets ?

Media ownership control a specific part of media that organized by a individual and group of individuals. Concentration of media ownership refers to the companies that have their own small and large portion of media industry. Due to this chances of those people increased that have small or independent media .

Geo news is a largest media outlets owned by Mir Shakeel Ur Rehman . Geo News also have many kinds of other entertainment platforms like Geo sports , Geo Kahani , Geo Tv , Geo Tez and Geo entertainment.
Ary Digital is a second large media outlets in Pakistan organized by Salman Iqbal.
Express news owned by **Sultan Lakhani **.
