MY FAVORITE BOOK REVIEW
Hello, Steemians from all over the world. Greetings to you all. Today I'm excited to join this contest by @muhammad-ahmad to write a review on my favorite book titled "BOLD AND FEARLESS; A JOURNEY TO UNWAVERING CONFIDENCE. The book is written by "Idongesit Peter Essien"
The book
The author citing examples of her own experience of how she began to see and have confidence as a must gives the impression of how important it is for everyone to have it. I do appreciate the point of view that confidence starts from the inside, before it manifests outwardly. Not forgetting the use of scriptural references.
There is also a link between the first and second chapter, that is the author left a hint of what the second chapter entails, building the interest of the readers.
The elaborate detail about self doubt is very enlightening. There was an interesting quote about her point of view on the subject, which is the right one, the water that sinks a boat.
I'd like to add, Ella Wheeler said (paraphrased), it is not actually the wind that controls the sail of a ship, it is the direction of the sail that determines whether it moves west or east. In other words, circumstances and even good fortune don't define us, but how we set our sail determines how we move in all circumstances (both good and bad) of life.
I really like the idea this chapter spreads, everyone's path in life differs, path to success, path to whatever it may be.
From the first few chapters, Shying away from responsibilities and things we are capable of doing so well, is a show of very low confidence.
Also, it is great to learn that despite what a man plans in his heart, it is the counsel, the will, plan and purpose of God that eventually stands, and he does it in ways we do not comprehend naturally. This really was a good thing to remember.
I should also say the aspect of positive affirmation, more especially those from the Bible really buttressed a good point to me.
The Author also went on to outline the things we need to build our confidence, which includes;
Your Knowledge of God. She believes that when you understand and know the God you serve, this has a way of increasing your confidence level.
The Knowledge of Who you are. The author made it clear that the knowledge of who we are in Christ elevates our confidence. Knowing that we are the apple of God's eyes and what God thinks of us is very crucial. This also has to do with discovering your purpose in life. When you discover your purpose in life, it makes you focused and at the same time confident of who you are and what you are meant to do in life.
Practicing self love is one way to boost our confidence as explained and illustrated by the author. And using a story she explained why unforgiveness only makes the heart grow weaker and confidence and esteem seem impossible, especially when it is against ourselves. So we must love and also forgive ourselves what we make mistakes.
Changing of our believe System matters in confidence building. What you believe makes or Mars you.
Show of gratitude to our selves when we reach a milestone is also key to confidence building. So we have to celebrate our little wins often as it validates we are making progress there by boosting our confidence in ourselves.
Practice of Daily positive affirmations which were well detailed in the book.
Associations: in the book the author explained the importance of distancing from people who gives us negative energy and associating with positive people.
These and many more are detailed in the book as ways to help boost our confidence.
After reading the book and practicing all the exercises there, I noticed a great change in my confidence level.
I'll invite my friends @eveetim, @bossj23 , and @goodybest to join me in this contest.
