"One Picture And One Story Week #60"
Today it is my pleasure to take part in ONE PICTURE AND ONE STORY WEEK # 60 organized by @suboohi. This contest is a perfect chance to tell a story that one picture - the one that will be sent to the contest - can tell. To me, every piece of photo tells a special story – it may be an interesting story behind each photo or simply the story of an unforgettable moment, a small but happy story or a story of the beautiful places I have been too. Thanks to this contest, I have the pleasure of living that moment over and over again, as well as being able to share it with others and build a sense of community between people and around stories. I can’t wait to expose the theme of the specific picture I have selected for the contest!
I love this picture dearly because it depicts a beautiful, warm moment of my husband and our lovely son. Last week, our family embarked on a trip to Cox’s Bazar with the intention of lapse of time, discovery and having memorable time as one family. Of all the places that we were able to visit, it was at Patuartek Beach where an extra special moment was given to us, as the young boy finally got to spend some quality time with his father plus, he was really happy with what he experienced.
It was a very sunny day – clear sky, waves gently washing the sand, wind blowing from the sea. We had purchased a toy set for digging at the beach for our little one with the thought that he would keep on enjoying them while we took time to admire the sandy coastal view. And it worked wonders! Once we found ourselves in the sand my baby was immediately captivated by the fact there was a large expanse of beach and started to play energetically with his bucket and spade and his new toy, shoveling sand about.
Initially, my husband and I were just observing him, laughing at how happy he was. However, it took me a couple of minutes to realize that my husband was bending over him also, really playing with our son. Infectiously he smiled and took a toy shovel and started playing and carefully showing our little one how to dig or if he wanted to build the walls of his castle higher. That was such a beautiful sight – a father child so engrossed with the sand, shells and the joy that came with it all. Both of them were happy and smiling; happiness, love and understanding overpowered me through the activeness of that game.
I simply could not help myself, and snap called over a local photographer who was walking through the beach and asked him to capture this priceless moments. In some ways he captured precisely the look of tenderness I saw in my husband, the smile of discovery that graced the face of our son, and the laughter as the two of them running around playing in the sand.
When I look at this picture now it looks like it is so much more than a picture – rather it is but a memory of a simple yet replenishing father-son relationship and cherished little moments. This memory will always remain dear to me – though we were at Patuartek Beach for some lovely moments and the joy of family connections that makes our life so beautiful and special.
