Warm greetings to you all.

It's really good taking part in this contest. This contest causes you to have a reflection of how far one's journey on Steemit has been. For me, it has been like a hill up and down ride, filled with lots and more of downs moments than ups. But I have decided to stay encouraged, hoping my ups moments will come sooner than later.

What were your hopes while signing up for Steemit for the first time?

I joined Steemit in November 2020 through the help of @talktofaith. She explained that it is a blogging platform that rewards with dollar which pays out in Steem cryptocurrency. Because of who she is to me, I believed her. Though I didn't really take it serious, I decided to give it a try and see for myself.

I thought to myself that, if it's really paying her, then it should pay me too.

On signing up, I had hoped I would get big instant votes on my first post ( introduction post) as I had seen other introduction posts being heavily upvoted. Also, I had a big expectation that all my posts going forward would be largely voted on. I had hoped that with the big votes, I would be able to support myself in school, take care of other bills I have and get some things for myself.

But I was wrong, it didn't happen like that, the votes didn't really come as expected and I felt disappointed. But @talktofaith encouraged me and told me to put more effort that the votes would come. She explained some posts would get good votes and others won't but just be consistent. Her advised helped me to keep on.

Your challenges faced while achieving your financial or blogging goals?

First, I wasn't a born content writer. That was my first challenge, so I had to learn how to write good quality contents. Thanks to Steemit, that was a bit easy as you could simply learn from others who are good at writing by reading and studying the layouts and contents of their writing. Gradually, my writing skill improved. And with Steemit achievement tasks,the use of markdowns to improve quality and outline of contents was easy to apply.

The second challenge was the infrequent votes as this affected my financial goal. I had improved my writing yet I wasn't getting good votes. It could be discouraging when you keep creating contents and no reward comes from it. I decided to navigate other communities and create contents there too, hopefully my contents will attract influencers.

Creating contents takes time, imagination and of course, data and I am a student trying to support myself in school. Though I enjoyed creating those contents, I still needed to be encouraged with good votes.

I navigated other communities, like steemfoods, cooking is a hobby for me, so I could create more food contents and contest posts and alas! I started getting good votes, then steemwomen community was created at the time too, and I got good vote supports from contest posts there. And then, I started meeting a few of my financial goals. It takes quality contents , consistency and patience to get rewards from Steemit.

Your inspiration on Steemit?

One thing that inspires me on Steemit is how I saw steemit paid off for those who stay committed and consistent on the platform. Their growth in terms of skill and Steem power influence inspires me a lot. There are a few of them I know: @ngoenyi, @patjewell, @eliany , @kouba1, @kiwiscanfly.

I learnt from their success that focusing on improving the quality of contents , getting involved in steemitblog programmes, starting good initiatives, can give one's recognition and growth with good votes rewards and in turn increases one's steem power. And ultimately gives you a good influence and reputation on Steemit.

Your happy story due to Steemit?

I had come a long way on steemit. The first withdrawal I made really got me very excited. It was little though, it brought so much joy for me. It happpend few weeks after I signed up. I won a contest by Steemwomen and got good vote.

Along my journey on steemit, there was a day I got a really big vote. The contest was to promote Steemit and help a new person sign up, I had told some friends about Steemit before the contest who indicated interest. So as at the contest time, they signed up and did their introduction post. I used it for my entry.

And few days after, I got a whooping big vote from SC01. I didn't even know at first, it was on our WhatsApp group chat the admin tagged my name with congratulations and the screenshot. I was very glad! I remembered few months of signing up, my phone got bad on the last day of exam. Thanks to God for Steemit, I was able to withdraw my Steem earnings with the help of a Steemit friend. I got a new phone. And I was really happy.

At a point, I had some challenges that got me off Steemit, and it took a while for me to get over them. And I'm glad to be fully back on Steemit.
