Extracurricular activities are activities other than the regular academic work. It includes sports (football, race, long jump, high jump), club (art club, debate club), singing and learning to play an instrument, martial arts etc. These activities are often ways that helps children discover what they enjoy doing, learn a new skill, stay relaxed amidst the tension of class work, play, ease themselves and have fun.

How can extracurricular activities help children's physical and mental growth?

There's a saying that reads "all work and no play makes jack a dull boy." A child who is given to just academic work can easily grow worn-out, passive and withdrawn as things would mean the child is under a lot of mental pressure. Extracurricular activities overtime are developed to work around the schedule of children, balancing play time and school work this creating a blend of activities that educate and relax, thus they can have a positive impact on children. Activities like sports can help improve physical fitness and coordination, this promotes a healthy lifestyle as the child would have a regular exercise routine.

For mental growth, they help children explore interest and passion which builds self-esteem and confidence. It also teaches life skills like time management, goal setting, problem solving and team work. Extracurricular activities also have a way of settling the mind after the bulk of school work, a relaxed mind is usually better to approach more school work. Extracurricular activities also ensures smart thinking and sharpness as there are games that requires this to thrive.

Do today's children like extracurricular activities, or are they forced to participate by their parents?

Today's children like extracurricular activities more than school work for most. The work on teachers is to ensure that there is balance for the boys with school work and then for girls to engage in these activities. There's always excitement when it's sports time in schools. Parents play a part in dictating for most children as it's either a family tradition or something, however, instructors and teachers often find this child struggling and leads them to the places where they'll function better by interest.

Is extracurricular activity necessary for children?

Extracurricular activities is necessary for children as it helps cover for regular physical exercise, brain exercises. It usually helps children feel more comfortable amongst their peers thus allowing them participate more in class work.

Which are the best extracurricular activities for today's children?

I think the best extracurricular activities for today's children would be sports, games loke chess, scrabble and the likes, dancing, learning to play an instrument and volunteering, martial arts. Children often relax and enjoy doing these activities.

Conclusion

Extracurricular activities play a part in the development of children, promoting their assimilation process as they start calculating a bit faster, they learn the importance of a team and generally learn little bits of life with also an exercise routine to cover for physical fitness. Children who participate are easier to reach out to as they learn in little ways to ask questions.

Hello friend

You highlighted how much the activities aid the child in developing their mental health. A moment of recess makes these kids quite free from mental stress, giving them a reason to relax and come up with ways to Foster their mental health and better their physical health

Absolutely, you're spot on. Extracurricular activities during recess, provide children with a much-needed break from academic stress and allow them to relax and recharge. This downtime gives them a chance to unwind, clear their minds, and come up with creative ways to foster their mental well-being. Moreover, engaging in physical activities during this time not only benefits their physical health but also has positive effects on their mental health. It's a win-win situation for their overall well-being.

¡Saludos amigo!😊

That's amazing to hear @paholags. I'm so glad that you've had the opportunity to participate in various extracurricular activities. It's wonderful how these activities have helped you develop physically, also gaining motor skills and also internally, allowing you to get to know yourself better. It truly is a fantastic way for children to explore and grow. Keep embracing those experiences.
