I hope you are all well. This week too I am participating in the "Pick a Word, Paint a Story #06" contest organized by @senehasa. Now this contest has become one of my favorite contests. This week the 3 words are sun, moon and wind. So out of these 3 words, the word I choose to write my article today is moon.

The sun, moon, and wind are three wonderful creations of nature. There is a close relationship between the sun and the moon. When the sun is up, we do not get to see the moon. This is because the moon is covered by its light. But when the sun sets, the moon becomes the king of the dark sky. At night, the sky and the environment are illuminated by the moon. When we look at the moon, we see the craters on it. But when I was a child, I thought that a rabbit lived in the moon. Because when I looked at the moon, it looked like a rabbit inside it. But only later did I learn that the craters and mountains on the moon are visible from inside the moon, like that rabbit. I have heard some adults still tell young children that there is a rabbit in the moon.

Every month, on the full moon poya day, we can see the full moon. On these days, the night sky is brighter than normal days. On such full moon days, some religious rituals are performed based on the moon. Also, people accept the sun and the moon as gods in religion and people are even accustomed to worshiping them.

Moon witnessing

As I was writing about the moon, I remembered a story I had read about the moon before. So I thought it would be good to share that story with you. The topic of the story I read was the moon witnessing. What is this moon witnessing?

There was a young couple living alone in a certain village. That said they lived alone because they were the only two people in the house. So this young couple spent their time lovingly and lived happily. As time passed, the young woman became pregnant. So the husband had to treat her with more love than usual. One day, the two of them went for a walk on a full moon night. That day, they walked on the beach together and started talking about the past.

While they were talking like this, the husband called his wife and said that he had a secret that he had been keeping for years and that he wanted to tell her today. So he made her promise not to tell anyone about this secret and told her the secret.

On a full moon day, he had killed a man in that village many years ago by hitting him with a hoe. So, no one in that village knew about this murder and there was no evidence that he had committed the murder. So that day, he told his wife the secret. Seeing the full moon, he remembered the incident and his wife learned the secret that had been hidden for many years.

His wife, as he said, did not reveal the secret to anyone. But as time passed, one day a fight broke out between them and the husband went to beat his wife. At that moment, the wife started screaming loudly, saying that her husband was going to kill her just like he had killed a man in this village on a full moon night a few years ago.

That day, people from all over the village gathered there to hear her screams and the people also heard the story she told. So everyone came to know about the murder that had been a secret for a long time. Later, the people of the village informed the police that the man had committed a murder because of this incident and handed him over to the police. He had to tell his wife the secret the day before because he remembered it when he saw the full moon. So it was when he saw the moon that he remembered the murder he had committed and told his wife about it.

Now you probably understand why this is called the moon's testimony. The moon was the witness to the murder he committed.
