Hello everyone, is a privilege to participate in another contest again by the Hindwhale Community on the Steemit Engagement Challenge S11/W4 to write on the topic "How is democracy functioning in your country?". Below is my entry according to the contest guide.

How is democracy functioning in your country?

Nigeria celebrates democracy day on the 12 June of every year, a national public holiday is declared to observe the celebration of democracy day in Nigeria.

Democracy Day is celebrated since 12th June 1993 to commemorate the reference of Nigeria becoming a democratic government which means Nigeria has the right to set up its government with no direct external control by any system.

Nigeria as a country has been under a military regime for over 13 years, it later transitioned to a democratic government system, according to history, the constitution was used on 05/05/1999 when elections were held, and who was once a military ruler was elected as the president.

Yes. After independence on the 1st October, 1960, Nigeria becomes free from British colony rule. Nigeria layer become a republic in 1963, after independence, The country formed its rnment under democratic rule and has full control and command in the running of its affairs.

Is your country self-sufficient in food production?

Yes. Nigeria is blessed with fertile lands and natural resources, many regions especially in northern Nigeria farm grain for consumption and even commercial purposes.

Before the country began to depend on its major economic source of crude oil, Agriculture was the major source of revenue, and the people farmed and exported food.

How is youth employment in your country?

Youth employment is very poor in my country, the government system is mostly dominated by the old, and they never allow the young ones to control the government.

Employment is generally poor in Nigeria, people do venture to business or guzzle to earn a living. But the government are trying to make provision to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.

What do you want your country to be like?

I want my country to grow economically and otherwise, the government and citizens should stop corruption and be truthful in their dealings.

In conclusion, Nigeria is a developing country and it will one day be the country of our dream. Thank you and I wish to invite @yakspeace @edgarlygonzalez @leonciocast @rankari6 to join the contest.

APPENDIX

Sort:

Hello, it is good to know that your country is currently free of denomination, the bad thing is the unemployment that is very high, but soon there will be more young people working for the country, otherwise this generates migration and at the same time poverty, good luck and a blessing for your country .

Blessings and success in the contest.
