Steemit Engagement Challenge||S13W1||What obstacles have you faced in fulfilling your dream

We all have things we often dream about, I certainly do. Having such desires is usually the driving force towards ones success. Without dreams, there are no motivations to act, people often say. Dreams have a way to help us even during tough times. I have had many over the years and I still do. Currently I'm working on one interesting one, this is what it's about.

My dream

I'm the type of person you would identify as career-driven, I'm a Quantity Surveyor, I'm fairly certain you may not have heard about it or associate it with "Land Surveyors", while they are both related to the built industry, they are still different.

Quantity Surveyors are cost experts who are skilled with determining the cost it would take to carry out construction project from the initiation of the project to it's completion. It started in Great Britain but found its way to Nigeria. Working hand-in-hand with Builders, Architects and Engineers, they strive to achieve Value for money for the client.

Due to its new introduction, the Nigeria education school system is still challenged with developing the curriculum in schools, some universities still do not offer this course due to the fact that only a limited amount of Quantity Surveying Practitioners are willing to delve into teaching full time.

The schools that take Quantity Surveying as a degree still lack in certain areas, because of this, I made it my personal goal to achieve this dream, that is, promoting Quantity Surveying among students, after all, we are the future of tomorrow.

The obstacle

To be successful in this endeavor, the prospective student would also have to put in the effort, but sometimes, some of them are too far gone that they have even lost interest or passion in aspiring to be a good Quantity Surveyor, instead, they just want to graduate and find another thing to do with their time. My major obstacle with this has always been in motivating them to find this passion again. Another obstacle was trying to reach these various students in their various school.

How I overcame this obstacle

We can give thanks to social media. Through connections, I was able to reach out to majority of some schools, and with time, the list continued to grow. Now I have students from all across the country willing to learn and develop themselves further.

My encouragement

My major source of encouragement comes from my student. Their success is my success. Even on difficult days, a mere "Thank you for the lessons" from any of my student is enough to make my day.

I love what I do and in glad I'm able to impact others positively.

Major obstacles people face

If I were to identify some of the major obstacles that have affect ones dream from experience, the first one would be as follows:

1. PROCASTINATION: I will admit that it affected me as well, no one is immune to this, but we all have the ability to control this.
   2: FEAR: Just because you don't know the outcome doesn't mean you shouldn't at least try. Fear of failing can be a major obstacle to ones dream
   3: LACK OF CONSISTENCY: This is visible among the successful members of the Steemit community, a lot of hard work and consistency is involved.

Drawing my write up to a close, I will continue to chase my dream, I hope that you do the same. It may not be easy at first, but I can assure you it eventually gets easier and it begins with the first step.
