How much do you trust your abilities and how reliable your abilities towards your job, education, business etc? Nice topic, I know you're willing to read about the level of confidence I have, isn't it? Then let's keep going.

Self-confidence is believing in one's abilities and capability. I am one of those who believe so much in myself, no matter how little I know. I may not be the best, but I always try to be better in all that I do. That gives me confidence that I can excel in my doings despite the obstacles. I don't need anyone's validation, I know my worth and abilities.

For example, I am a teacher. The day I went for my current job interview, I didn't expect that I'd be asked to teach by my interviewer based on my subject choice. I didn't have a specific topic in my mind, so I went for the simplest topic. With the way I began my introduction, they already knew I was well vested in the subject. I was given another topic by the interviewer. I wasn't afraid. Although it was a long time I had taught, I wasn't moved. I took it one step at a time, and before I got to explain the different steps, I was given applause and asked to step forward to negotiate my salary.

The difference between confidence and overconfidence is that confidence is believing that you're good, not because you meant to compete with anyone. It is your belief in your abilities. While overconfidence is borne out of over placement or pride. When a person thinks he's better than anyone, that he's at the top, while others are regarded as less. Someone who is overconfident is usually overwhelmed by his ability.

While it is good to have self-confidence, it is good if you're not overdependent on your abilities so that you feel others can't be a match with you. You may fail in the course of that over-dependence.

Yes, I have mentioned above about my teaching interview where I almost lost out, but because of the confidence in my abilities, I was able to deliver.

Self-confidence gives boldness, it makes you feel relaxed. Overconfidence can ruin. Would you rather miss out than manage your confidence with bravery?
