Greetings, friends. Happy February. I hope last month was great for everyone. Mine was supercharged up. Here in India, it’s slowly turning warmer because now we are approaching the end of winter. Although the nights are chilly, the afternoons are warm. Today I am back with Day 2 of my Kerala trip. I know it’s been a while since I wrote my last post about my Kerala travel diary, but anyway, here we are now. In case you missed my previous post, you can find it over here.

Admiring Munnar. Hi! @deepak94

So let’s begin with my post. As per our plan, after visiting Kochi, the next destination was Munnar. A must-visit place! We woke up the next morning in Kochi and had decided to look for buses that go to Munnar. It was a bit of a task because the first thing was that we woke up a bit late, and the second thing was that we had to book the tickets on the spot because we hadn’t pre-booked, so it was necessary for us to secure our seats as soon as possible. As we all got dressed, we sent one of our friends, Yovraj, to go and find out about the bus timings and the bookings. He informed us about the timing and that we had to be really quick to get to the bus station. We all got ready in a jiffy and left to go the station. We also had to checkout from the home stay so we had to carry all our luggage.

Some breathtaking views

We soon reached the bus station and caught our bus in time. It was a 5-hour and 31-minute journey. We had already booked our homestay in Munnar, so we were in constant contact with the homeowner. We handed over the phone to the conductor so that he could speak in Malayalam (the official language of Kerala) and guide us about where to get down and how to get to the house and so on and so forth. The conductor then told us that he would let us know where to alight the bus, and there the gypsy driver would come and pick us up. We just made one small mistake: we hadn’t eaten anything since morning, and we felt extremely hungry on the bus. 😌 So we patiently waited for our destination, Munnar, to arrive. But we did eat something on the way when the bus stopped for a break. We had something known as Appam (thin pancake made with fermented rice batter). We learned later on that it’s eaten with accompaniment.

Having fun in the Jeep

Finally, after almost 6 hours, we reached a place nearby Munnar. We waited for the driver to arrive and take us to the homestay. Munnar is 1532 m above sea level, which means we had to climb up the hill, and the appropriate vehicle for that was a jeep. We then finally reached our home. As we reached, we discussed with the driver and the owner about the sightseeing points and the rates and timings. So our plan to stay there was 2 nights and 2 and a half days in Munnar, which really covered everything that we could.

Our Homestay

Our first spot was at Idduki-Devikulam, where we encountered the mesmerizing tea gardens. And oh my God, friends, I cannot express how wonderful and amazing the view and scenery were. I was truly in awe of this place and really loved the views. All of us went crazy exploring the tea plants and took a lot of pictures. But alas, our excitement didn’t last for long because it soon started pouring rain, and we had to quickly leave the garden and get back to our home. We were a bit disappointed, but Munnar and its beauty made all that disappointment vanish away, and we had the time of our lives. We then had to stay home and enjoy it there itself. So the homeowner arranged for some tasty dinner, and we waited until they got it for us. We then went on to make an Instagram reel video that was going viral at that time. All six of us sat in a row and sang the very famous song Saiyaan, a song by Kailash Kher, a very popular Indian music composer and singer.

Beautiful Tea estate

After we all had had our dinner, we then called it a day and slept on so that we could be energetic the next day. The next morning we had plans to go to Echo Point, Mattupetty Dam, a flower garden, and a tea garden, as we had to cut short the visit last evening. In Munnar, it’s said that by 5 pm everyone needs to get back to their homes because it was a high rainfall alert and all the water bodies were on high alert. (We were also visiting in August, during the monsoons when there were landslides in Wayanad in Kerala, so it was extremely challenging at that point in time).

At the Dam

We took all the precautions and traveled only where we felt safe and comfortable. But no words can express the beauty of Kerala and how much we enjoyed being there. So we took a lot of pictures, and honestly, we didn’t need to look for great backgrounds because anywhere we stood, there was an amazing view behind us just waiting to be clicked. We visited the dam and took beautiful photos. We then visited the echo point where we shouted on the top of our voices, and we could hear what we said from the mountains. Then we visited a flower garden where we saw many different types of flowers and had some ice cream. And we clicked a lot of pictures at the tea estate.

After we reached back to the homestay, we decided to walk a little further and enjoy the view. Later in the evening it started raining, and then we danced in the rain with our raincoats on. 😝☔️. So here, guys, I come to the end of my 2nd day of the Kerala trip. I must say this was the best out of all the places. Truly amazing. I will be back with the next destination; until then, bye, take care, and stay healthy. Don’t forget to share your thoughts and feedback on this post.
