Contest : My opinion on Conflict
According to your understanding, what is conflict and what is its outcome?
According to my own definition, conflict is the encounter of two opposing forces which may be a concern of the individuals, groups or nations and usually result from the clash of interests or beliefs so in other situations, conflict may be beneficial, as its resolution usually entails great change so the appearance of disagreement or differences may lead to better relationships and this is especially true where the parties share a base of relationships.
Sociologists, for example, have focused on the issues of bringing and maintaining harmony in society, and this implies addressing conflicts so, if conflicts are resolved properly in relation to them, improvement may be overd as increased cohesion, problem solving or positive social climate and on the other hand, there are adverse effects of conflicts that are left unresolved due to their negative impacts on the life of individuals and society in general.
Can we end the conflict completely or not? Please explain a little.
Ending conflicts completely is a complex and challenging endeavor due to a variety of factors such as deep-rooted historical grievances, power struggles, political motivations, and cultural divides and while achieving complete resolution may seem daunting, it is possible through sustained efforts focused on diplomacy, dialogue, reconciliation, and compromise so building trust among conflicting parties, addressing underlying issues, promoting understanding, and fostering cooperation are crucial steps towards lasting peace .
So additionally, involving impartial mediators, implementing effective conflict resolution mechanisms, and ensuring accountability for past actions can contribute to a more sustainable resolution. While complete eradication of conflict may be ambitious, incremental progress and a commitment to peaceful resolutions can pave the way for a more harmonious future.
What can be done to prevent conflict between a team or two individuals?
Typically to avoid clashes among the individuals or the team members, promoting open communication is very important also promote, active listening, empathy and tolerance to opposing views once more the clear objectives, responsibilities, and roles should be defined in order to lessen the chances of a misunderstanding.
Also create a healthy team dynamics by appreciating and understanding the different roles played by each member. Use negotiation skills that are reliable such as facilitation or team exercises to help member differences in a positive way. Also follow up with such revisions on a regular basis in order to tackle any problems raised.
And lastly always support finding solutions which do not favour one side but both parties in a conflict instead. Supportive and nurturing atmosphere increases organisation efficiency by minimising conflictual exchange of ideas and strengthening relations.
