Winter's Delight- Tell us about your favorite food of winter.

People choices are not the same especially when it comes to food. Here in Ibibio, we don't have a particular food for winter season. All the different food that we have can be eaten during this season but the food that contain more Pepper is prefer because of the weather.

In winter, we eat food that will make the body feel warm. And my favorite food that will keep my body in healthy state during winter are Pepper soup rice ( efopbommong edese) and Banana porridge (Atoh - mboro). This two meal

Traditional or Cultural Connection:Is it a traditional winter food in your country? Do you eat this food every day or occasionally?

My favorite food is traditional food that is known in my place. Very lovely with a nice taste that cannot be easily rejected. Since is my favorite meal, I don't eat it every day but there's no week that passes without having a taste 😋 of it expecially now that am nursing a baby. This two food is what I eat most.

Secret Ingredients: Any secret ingredients that make the food special?

For food to have a unique taste, it's means that there's a secret behind the preparation. While preparing the pepper soup, you must make sure, you add a little garlic, ginger with small water and cook until the water become turbid before adding other ingredients to have a delicious taste.

In banana porridge, the secret ingredient is the pounded of a dry fish (ibat) head, ribs, then put in a bowl, add a warm water, squeeze it and drain the water and use. That's does not mean that fish will not be included. It will including other ingredients that will make the food an healthy diet.

Nourishment Factor: is it nourishing winter food for you or is there any health benefit of this food?

The food is nourishing and is also beneficial to the body. Banana porridge has many health benefits that the body needs when you eat. It a good source of fiber. A good meal for nursing mothers, diabetic patient, babies whose mother finished exclusive feeding etc.

When it comes to fish. It has many nutritional benefits packed in it which help in growing and development of the body.

Recommendation: Do you recommend this food to taste others

An healthy food is well recommend for everyone to eat because it will help in maintaining the well-being of an individual. The two of my favorite food can be taken by all. They all contain nutrients to nourish the body.
