THE DIARY GAME: CELEBRATING MY DAD'S RETIREMENT: (8/12/2024)

In the morning my family and I woke up had out morning devotion and started preparing for our big event 🥰 the atmosphere was already filled with joy, happiness and laughter. Attending my dad’s retirement service was a memorable and heartfelt experience. Ranging from the preparations which began days earlier, as we anticipated the event with excitement and gratitude.

The first step was heading to the market to purchase food items. We carefully selected fresh vegetables, meat, fish, oil, goat and other essentials to ensure we had all the ingredients needed to prepare a variety of dishes for our guests. The bustling market scene, with vendors calling out their goods, added a vibrant touch to our preparations. Back home, the entire family, relatives and friends and well wishes pitched in to cook. We prepared jollof rice, fried rice, plantain pottage, Afang soups, and snacks, working tirelessly to ensure our guests would be served delicious meals.

The event proper took place at The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Ikot Andem Itam. Nigeria. It was a solemn yet joyous occasion as we gathered to celebrate my dad’s decades of service and his transition into retirement. The service as the Minister of the God. The outpouring prayers for him and the family, led by the minister, who spoke blessings and offered words of encouragement. This was followed choir ministration, then Bible lessons were read and the word was passed my our Eminent.

Thereafter was the photo session, where family, friends, and well-wishers captured precious moments to remember the day. Gifts and donations poured in as tokens of appreciation for my dad’s dedication and hard work over the years.

Afterward, we transitioned to the reception area, where guests were served the meals we had prepared earlier. It was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying themselves, sharing laughter, and recounting stories about my dad’s professional journey. As the event drew to a close, there was a deep sense of fulfillment knowing we had honored him well.

Afterward, we transitioned to the reception area, where guests were served the meals we had prepared earlier.The live band from Real brass added more joy to the atmosphere. It was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying themselves, sharing laughter, and recounting stories about my dad’s professional journey as a Reverend. As the event drew to a close, there was a deep sense of fulfillment knowing we had honored him well.

Returning home, exhaustion set in, but it was the good kind of tiredness. I quickly freshened up, took a well-deserved meal, and relaxed, reflecting on the success of the day. The event was not just a celebration of my dad’s achievements but also a moment for the family to bond and create memories that would last a lifetime.
