The Diary Game [19th June 2024]: A Mother and Daughter's Pilgrimage to an Extraordinary Mosque
Assalamu'alaikum to all of my steemians 🌸
How're you all doing? May this extended holiday bring you happiness, relaxation, and quality time with loved ones. I also had the opportunity to spend some quality time with my mother. We decided to take a walk to a magnificent mosque that holds great significance for the people of Aceh. It's a must-visit for any tourist coming to the region.
We decided to set off in the afternoon after Asr prayer. The reason for this was that the sun had started to set by then, so the temperature was not too hot. My mother and I walked from our house to the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque. It was a short walk, so we didn't need to take a vehicle.
The streets and market were unusually quiet on our walk to the mosque, with only a handful of shops still operating. It seemed that the majority of the population was still away for Eid al-Adha festivities, yet to return to the city.
Emerging from the quiet streets, we found ourselves at the heart of Banda Aceh, gazing upon the majestic Baiturrahman Grand Mosque. Steeped in history, this sacred site has played a significant role in Aceh's past, including witnessing the demise of a Dutch colonial general.
We hurried towards the women's wudhu area. As usual, entering the mosque was preceded by performing two rak'ats of sunnah prayer. For those who want to visit the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, don't worry about prayer clothes, because there are many provided here. You just need to come, wudhu, and then pray.
After wudhu, we entered the majestic interior of the mosque and prayed. The atmosphere was cool because the mosque was surrounded by air conditioners. There were many congregants performing prayer. The interior of the mosque is so magnificent with its distinctive chandeliers. Even though this is not my first time here, the charm of the architecture and the atmosphere remain an attraction that is never boring.
My mother and I wanted to enjoy this peaceful atmosphere a little longer inside the mosque. We sat in the back row so as not to disturb the worship of other congregants. A few minutes passed, we decided to go home because it was starting to get dark.
We went home with happy hearts, enjoying every step that took us home. Every now and then I would take a picture of my mother, who was wearing a pink dress. Hey, she looked so beautiful, didn't she?
That's what I did on June 19, 2024, which was the third day of Eid al-Adha. Sorry if my English seems a bit formal or unnatural. I'm still learning, but I've done my best to make my writing clear and understandable. Thank you for reading, commenting, and voting. Stay tuned for my next post!
Wassalamu’alaikum, teman-teman 🌸
