Is Freedom The Goal?
When you think deeply about why majority of people need money, it's to buy food stuffs and take care of their family - it doesn't matter how they make that money. But to the top 5% in almost all walks of life, the goal of making money is to gain more freedom.
For the wealthiest minority, money is a tool that they use in gaining more freedom to live the kind of life that they want - and enjoy more free time with their family. For the top people, money in itself isn't the goal - it's just the side benefit of doing what they love freely.
For the majority, they don't think so much about their freedom - in terms of controlling their time, and doing what they like to do. But when you start to think freedom, it starts to get clearer to you; what the goal should be. And you become more innovative in your thought process.
When you get beyond the feeling of just making money for survival sake, then bigger doors start opening to you. This is because if your sole motivating factor is just about eating food, and surviving - you won't think of bigger things. Such people have reduced themselves to lower animals - just thinking of food alone.
This is the reason why many people aren't rich - because they got comfortable just buying food for their families to eat. On the other hand, if your goal is freedom - then your thinking becomes more limitless. You'd still feed your family, but you'll be capable of great imaginations and creations for a freer life.
Thinking of just making money for the moment is the reason why we have people spend lavishly on unimportant things, money should indeed be seen as a tool for freedom and the attainment of the type of life we want.
