Ways To Deal With And Conquer Your Fears [Part 3]

The issue relating to fear is one that should be taken with utmost seriousness because it has limited a lot of people from taking positive steps and has caused them to remain at the same spot. One thing about fear is that it creeps in as something harmless, then it grows out of proportion when it is given attention. Yes, it feeds off the attention being targeted to it. We have looked at ways by which someone can effectively put up a fight against their fears from the last episode, and we shall drop more tips here.

1. Learn to interact with the fear

The reason why many people's fears grow is because they tend to leave in denial of the fear and try to avoid it, because that is the easiest thing to do. However, the truth is that you cannot keep avoiding or dodging a battle and hope to win it. To win a battle, you have to interact and face it. The courage to face your fear will remain nonexistent until you have made an attempt to face it, then you will realize how strong you are against it. By knowing the areas you are afraid of, you are already a step ahead in conquering it. But if you deny the fear, it will keep growing.

There are quite a lot of things that are involved in interacting with your fears. Firstly, you have to acknowledge it specifically. More times, you may even need to mention the fears one-by-one so as to know what you are up against. When soldiers want to go to war for example, they will first observe their enemies to know their strengths and weakness, so as to know how to put up an effective fight against them. If you are scared of public speaking, for example, you do not have to deny it, just tell yourself that this is what you are afraid of.

When you are acknowledging your fears, you do not have to give excuses for them. If you want to give excuses for them, you will see a lot of excuses to give, but none of them will get the problem solved. However, one thing you should avoid, even when acknowledging your fear, is judging yourself. If you make yourself to constantly look guilty because of your fear, you will be tormented by it. Instead, focus on your strength to overcome it. The more you resolve within your mind to face your fears, the more you see them as overcome-able.

2. Be inspired by what you are afraid of

The same thing that you are greatly afraid of can also serve as a source of inspiration and can trigger passion within you. When you realign your impression about your fears and see it as a positive motivator, you will realize that they can be your ally. For example, if you are scared of water, you might decide to take up a vacation in an island where you will be exposed to water expeditions. When you open your mind more and view your fears positively as a source of strength and energy, you will gain mastery over it.

Not many people know that fear can trigger incredible energy and power which one can harness. For example, if faced with a fearful situation, there is a tendency for your senses to become sharper and heightened, partly because of the increased adrenaline rush, and other factors. No wonder it has been said times and again that "fear can actually make one to survive." So if you see fear as something to leverage on to release more energy, you will know how to harness the power that is embedded in it. More so, it has been discovered that many people tend to perform well if they dare what they have been afraid of, because they will have their senses sharpened by the fear.

By being inspired by your fear, instead of seeing fear as a limiting factor, you will begin to see fear in positive light - as an opportunity. Each time you become afraid of something that you have not tried out before, it should give you the encouragement to try out that thing. You will be surprised that when you are moved to try out the new thing and when you finally do it, you will discover that you have been fearing in vain all these while.
