Facing Your Worst Fears

There are people that should have achieved something more than what they currently have, but their fears have limited them from taking steps and have kept them on the same spot. It is sad that a lot of people know what they will do to be better, but they do not take any step about it because of the fear of the unknown. Without taking step in the line of what you want to achieve, it will be almost impossible to achieve it. So in order to go forward, you definitely need to take some daring steps without allowing fear to limit you. Here we shall take a look at ways by which someone can face what they fear the most and then make the most out of life.

The first stop to approach your worst fears in order to overcome it is to first identify it. Trust me, if you have not taken time to identify what you fear the most, you may still be tormented by it and may perpetually live under the limitations of it. In order to solve a problem, you have to clearly state the problem. Take a mathematical equation for example, there is no way to arrive at the solution without first having to state the mathematical question to be solved. In the same way, you must first acknowledge the areas of life that you experience the fears. This will help you to know where to consolidate your efforts on. The awareness of your fears is the first and very crucial step towards overcoming your fears.

After you have identified and acknowledged what you fear most, then the next step is to gradually take little steps towards it. If you are waiting for when you will take a giant stride against your fears, you may never overcome your fears. Just start from small and manageable steps at your pace, then from there you can advance to a much bigger step. No body learns how to swim by diving inside the ocean, they will start from the little pool and when the have gotten comfortable, they can move to a deeper water. When you have many things intimidating you right before your face, start with the one that poses a less intimidation until you have mastered it, and then move forward.

When you are taking steps, also realise that you may not succeed at the first attempt, but it does not mean you have failed at it. Each step you take towards what you fear the most will constantly give you the confidence to overcome it in the long run. I remember what I once told one of my friends a while back; "the more you approach your fears, the more the fears draw back and soon, they will go." What fear leverages on is your mind; to limit you from taking steps. But if you will condition your mind to take the steps nonetheless, you will see how little and almost insignificant the fear has been.

The next step is to learn to challenge and put up a resistance against negative thoughts. For fear to be won on the outside, it has to be won first in the mind. When you have waged war against what is scaring you from the mind, then it will be easy to overcome. Sometimes, fears begin as negative thoughts. Each time you see your mind drifting towards negativities, just realign it to think positively and then you will see it will go away. If you leave negative thought it will breed some other negative things including fears. So always carry a positive thought and do not give any place for negative thoughts.

Finally, in order to face your fears, you need to stay around courageous people. When you stay with people who take steps, you will see yourself taking the same steps. But if you stay with people who constantly tell you how difficult a step will be and how impossible it is, it will not be long and you will magnify your fears. The people you stay around will with help you to break out of fears or will put you into fears. If the former is not the case, then you need to take a break from the person before they will put you into perpetual fear.
