Becoming Your Thoughts
I was having a discussion about "the power of the mind" with a friend of mine some days back and he made a very profound statement that got me in deep thoughts, he said "your life is a creation of your thoughts." When I got thinking about the statement, I realized that almost everything that happens to someone, including their actions, responses, reactions, attitude, character, have their root in the thoughts. The thoughts is like the seed of life which, when planted, has the propensity to grow. You can only experience positivity in life if your thoughts are geared towards positivity.
The mind, which is the seat of thought, controls a strategic part of the human life. You may be surprised to know that emotions, including anger, love, even fear etc, are all product of the mind. Fear, for example, is principally created by the mind. Many of the things that people fear, which later became a reality for them, are creations of their mind. That is, they were not born with them but had to develop them over time. One of my friends once told me that she is afraid of empty space and I asked her if she was born that way and she told me that she developed the fear after a particular incidence. This means that her thoughts became her reality.
I once heard about someone who had the thoughts of dying from cold. One would say that it is a weird fear, but it was real to him. The fear was so strong that he avoided anything that could make him to feel cold and freeze to death. He did not have freezer in his house for the fear that he could fall into it and freeze to death. This fear affected him and he lived with it for so long. When he finished from school and got a job in the line of his course of study - Mechanical Engineering, he thought that he finally escaped the fear of freezing because nothing would have taken him to a cold room.
One day, at his place of work, they got a news that their company won a contract to construct some massive mechanical cold rooms for a client who is into ice fish processing. This made them to start working on the cold room and his fear of freezing came back and be began to nurse the thoughts. He would say to himself "what if I enter into this enclosure to fix a couple of things and they mistakenly switch it on?" This kept going on in his mind and this created an uneasiness in him around the mechanical rooms. Everything he did there was done quickly and unsettled.
On one of the days, while testing one of the rooms, which they normally did to know if they were working fine, something weird happened. They normally switched on each room after fabrication and allow it run for some hours before certifying it as okay. This particular room was switched on and was to be off before closing from work. It happened that he was the last person to leave from their unit and the supervisor asked him to switch it off while going. While trying to hurry up and flip the switch off, he tripped the door and he got trapped inside the room while still on.
He tried to scream for help but no worker was around to rescue him. The only way to open the room was from outside because it was still on. That was how he slept there overnight and by morning, he had already frozen. The whole scenario started from his mind, it grew to fear, then manifested and became a reality. This shows how powerful your thoughts can be in determining your reality. What you do not want to see or experience in life, then you should avoid channelling your thoughts towards it because it can influence your actions and then create your reality for you.
What you think will eventually become your reality. Your actions which will grow to become your attitude and then your character, which creates your personality, have their root in the thoughts of the mind. Be mindful of the kind of things that you permit in your mind because these thoughts have the ability to grow into things beyond what you have ever imagined. Always remember that the journey to the creation of your reality starts from the mind.
