My Thoughts about Hive & Steemit

in Project HOPE5 years ago

image.png

I'll get straight to the point.
These are my impressions about HIVE a few hours after its official launch.

Many things are happening and very fast.
Maybe we don't have time, calm and concentration to assimilate all the events in the best way.
So I will try to be very punctual so that I can identify each aspect and approach it in the best way. Please, would you share your impressions about the following points?

  1. Tools are needed.

    • We need the equivalent of Steemd.
Estabamos acostumbrados a administrar nuestro poder de voto para no llegar a
niveles muy bajos. Entonces necesitamos una herramienta que permita
      monitorearlo.

    • We need the Steemauto equivalent.
Curation trails have so far been unable to take off on Hive, due to the lack of
a monitoring tool. As promised, by the time of the fork, all delegation settings
would remain intact, so presumably the trails will continue to function the same
as in steemit. But there is still no tool to verify and manage the votes of the
      curation trails.
      OMG, I miss Steemworld!!!

    • It would be very practical to have the equivalent of Steem Keychain.
This tool is not preferred by all users, many still use the steemconnect.
I started using Keychain and I liked it. I must not be remembering or copying my
keys every time I go to make a transaction. Currently the version of this tool
has not been developed for Hive. There is the possibility of enabling it through
      the use of the github,
but the procedure is very cumbersome. I prefer to wait for the official launch.
(Note: https://hivesigner.com/ is the equivalent of steemconnect.)

  1. Accessing the wallet from the hive.blog interface does not work.
This option tries to access https://hive.io/wallets// but the result is:

image.png

Fortunately, wallet can be accessed through https://peakd.com/
Peakd es la versión de Steempeak para Hive.

Anyway...
Details are still being fine-tuned, but the blockchain is active and users are using it. It is generating blocks.

Let's talk about money

STEEM value remains stable. Hive isn't on the exchanges yet, but this is a matter of hours. I imagine that HIVE will start with an initial value higher than STEEM, I estimate that it could be around 1 usd.

The value of HIVE will depend on the acceptance of the community.
If users keep their HIVE, and even if they increase their stake, or if instead they will sell it on the exchanges.

Currently there are not many possibilities to trade Hive. But relying on the promise made by @blocktrades in its post, i'm sure this will be fixed soon.

The only exchange that Hive has already listed is IONOMY.
image.png
You can check this link: https://ionomy.com/en/markets/btc-hive
Although in my first impression of this exchange I could notice that the prices it manages are well below the prices that we can see in Coingecko.

We also have the good news that Bittrex will include Hive in the next few hours.

The value of STEEM will depend on the next actions that Justin takes.

There is a possibility that Justin Sun may have bought tons of HIVE. This could give him enough voting power to have a notable influence on Hive. Although the vote for witnesses in Hive, was conditioned to a waiting time of 30 days. This gives current witnesses a margin of protection to prevent further attacks on governance.

Justin's actions will define the future of STEEMIT.
Assuming the possibility that it was the witnesses who prevented Justin from expressing himself since his arrival at Steemit. Now, he would have a free way to grow Steemit (Assuming these are his true plans).

But let's analyze these facts:

Recently censorship began to be applied on Steemit.
We can verify this with a visit to the blog of @blocktrades through the Steemit interface. All posts disappeared. However you can see them on Steempeak.

These censorship actions are being backed by a legality signal by including new guidelines in the Steemit Terms of Service.
https://steemit.com/tos.html

Please take a look at the following point:

14.1.7. Use our services to promote third-party platforms or to promote each other without our written permission.

Based on this, none of us can promote the Hive platform or any other platform on Steemit. Since this would be reason for the total suspension of our account.

Do you think these actions would benefit Steemit's future?

Bittrex has actually listed hive about last night and I will say we need steemauto real bad if you ask me. I think it's definitely a gradual process and we'll get there.

What do you think about censorship?

STEEM value remains stable. Hive isn't on the exchanges yet, but this is a matter of hours

Steem value isn't really that stable when compared to SBD though and the fall is quite astonishing. I think binance, blocktrades huobi, coingecko and some other crypto exchange are always working on listing hive on their trading platform. There is also hope for more crypto exchanges in the future.

I'm quite sure the teams may actually be working on creating 3rd party platforms like steemworld or steemauto authenticated to hive.

Thanks for stopping by and comment, dear friend @hardaeborla.

You are welcome ❤️💕

Hello Juan!

I'll leave #steem behind. I've powered down just now and I will remove all delegations and power these sp down as well.

I'm not sure if I will sell my steem right away or if I'll hold it for a while. Steem has become an empty hull to me. Let Justin and his colluders do with it what they want.

I hope I see you all over at #hive!

Hive on!

Cheers!
Lucky

You have made a radical decision.
I am personally concerned about the effects this would have on Project Hope at Steemit. If our delegators leave, we will be left without voting power.

We will see each other in Hive, surely we will.

Hello Juan,

I'm sorry but I cannot further support this now completely centralized blockchain.

It's a question of principle for me. I'm sure that project.hope will be, maybe even more as here, successful in #hive.

Steem was a great home with a wonderful community and fantastic content. But it was flawed from the start with many vulnerabilities which in the end lead to the downfall of this blockchain. The "don't trust verify" is one of the things that wasn't possible with the massive ninja mined amount of steem. The "trust" many had in Ned for instance was shamelessly betrayed in this #SteemHostileTakeover.

A hurtful lesson we all had to learn!

This, the community reaction and solidarity as well as the birth of #hive are some good things that came out of this!

The "crypto history textbooks" became an additional chapter!

On the other hand... not sooo surprising that someone like Justin comes along to exploit the f*** out of steem with Ned - who made a shady impression on me on different occasions/interactions - and the colluding exchanges.

This group of people made big moves up on my personal asshole list, that's for sure.

But it's business and one thing that I learned early on in my IT security career... everything that is possibly exploitable will be exploited. It's as simple as that.

Cheers and more importantly I hope that you and your loved ones can stay safe and healthy! Please take care of yourself and your loved ones!

Lucky

PS: This reply also is one of my last comments/replies I'm writing on here. As I said before, I'm on #hive now!

Thank you for taking the time to give me this kind response.

I could feel your disgust for the current reality of steemit. I totally understand you.

I am fully convinced that this situation can only be interpreted as a rainbow of new opportunities for all of us.

I appreciate you dear friend.
Follow us on Hive. We will wait for you.

Are you okey @doifeellucky?

Didn't see you posting in quite a long while. Hope you're okey there buddy

see you on the other side ? :P

I believe that decentralization is utopian both here and there.
I've always seen it that way, those who have Great SP, or in the other case HP, rule.
Hive is very new, all the applications and tools we have in steemit will be cloned.
Surely Justin Sun will make this platform grow, he already has everything at his disposal, practically...

We have to give time to see what will happen.

Already fill the form friend @juanmolina

You are right, decentralization is a utopia.
But if we add high levels of censorship to this, we will really be diving into quicksand.

Already fill the form...

Thank you very much, dear friend.

I believe that decentralization is utopian both here and there.

You nailed it.

Plus decentralization is what we see in European Union. Or we've seen in Rome.

Decentralization = lack of capability of making decision. And lack of someone who is responsible and can take a blame for making wrong choices. That's the worst governance model ever. If noone is there to take responsibility for mistakes.

No doubt friend @crypto.piotr
Society definitely needs leaders to get it on track. Someone to guide them.
It hardly works well if it doesn't have someone to lead the way.

Hi @juanmolina thanks for sharing your opinion and this information.

For me a lot is really happening now, as you say, you have to see well to realize what really happens, for now we will continue working with the expectation of what will happen in both chains.

It's hard for me to drop steem!

We need the equivalent of Steemd.

https://hiveblocks.com/ -- this will fully be ready in few days.

We need the Steemauto equivalent.

@mahdiyari is working on it.

Various wallets are here : https://hive.io/wallets/

Thank you dear friend.
You´re so kind.

FYI: este es el equivalente a steemd: https://hiveblocks.com/

Oh, thank you very much.
I appreciated it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts @juanmolina

I found it still to early to have any strong opinion. I wish HIVE all the best, however I'm myself not strong believer of decentralized governance. As it simply mean, that users who are popular (and know how market themsels) ae the ones making decisions.

Not to mention that past 2 years on steem blockchain tought me, that old witnesses and whales have been always fighting with each other. And that lack of centralized power was the reason why not much development took place in the past.

Will it be any different in the future? currently common 'enemy' brought some powerful people together. I wonder how long will that last, before things will go back to "normal".

Lack of tools can be fixed. But people do not change. And it seem to me, that majority of agressive and hostile large stake holders moved to HIVE.

It would be very practical to have the equivalent of Steem Keychain.
This tool is not preferred by all users, many still use the steemconnect

I'm definetly one of those who preffers steemconnect. I tried Keychain and I never did like it :/

Hive isn't on the exchanges yet, but this is a matter of hours

Do you think HIVE will be on any major exchange within hours? Or just some small ones, which hardly anyone uses (like ionomy).
Did bittrex really add HIVE token to it's exchange?

I imagine that HIVE will start with an initial value higher than STEEM, I estimate that it could be around 1 usd.

Why would you assume such a huge price? That would definetly encourage so many people to sell their HIVE token, assuming that it's heavily overpriced. And I cannot think of any current demand if price would be that high.

Yours, Piotr

Thanks for your valuable comment.

Did bittrex really add HIVE token to it's exchange?

Bittrex made the announcement on their Twitter account.

Why would you assume such a huge price?

I assume this idea remembering Steemit in its beginnings.
Hive is booting with a pre-established user base. These users already have the years of experience gained at Steemit. Therefore, this new blockchain would not have to go through that period of growth and consolidation. I just guess.

... currently common 'enemy' brought some powerful people together.

I have had this thought for weeks.
I once read a definition of Fascism. There I was able to know that one of its main characteristics consists in the creation of an internal or external "Common Enemy", in order to consolidate the union of the people.
Maybe we are seeing something similar?

Maybe we are seeing something similar?

Correct. And this union soon will start cracking.

If this union has weak foundations, it will surely fall.

Resteemed already :) Upvote on the way
