Certainly, insomnia is not a disease per se, it is really a result of many other things.
I've particularly been with insomnia on many occasions, usually when I have a lot of things to think about, when the day was very busy or when the next day will be busy.
A few days ago I was in that, and I decided to lower my coffee intake and increased my exercise time in the afternoon, which helped me a lot.
I have never taken medication to control it, even natural ones, but there are people who obviously need it frequently.

It's great to be able to deal with insomnia without using medications, I sometimes tend to use some when it gets bad though.
