What does Google say about you? || Series "My Personal Brand from Zero".

“You are master of what you keep silent and slave of what you speak”.

Sigmund Freud

This journey we have started, which I have called "My personal brand from scratch ", we will go through our blog, video channels or social networks in order to create or improve our personal brand online and offline. The first thing I want us to do is to review what Google, Bing and Yahoo! say about us. That's the first thing. There is no point in modifying or updating our social networks or blogs, if we do not know, previously, what appears when someone searches for us on the Internet.

EVERYTHING IS RECORDED ON THE INTERNET.

Before we continue, I need us to understand something: everything we say, write and publish as image, text, audio or video, is recorded on the Internet. This network of networks has an impressive memory, it does not forget anything, and if we go around writing or saying bullshit and bullshit, it will tell that to anyone who asks about us. On the contrary, if we publish coherent, intelligent and valuable things, that's what it will say. It all depends on what we want others to say about us, in this case, Google, Bing, Yahoo!, the three big search engines of the web. Although also, Duckduckgo gets in on the gossip and can issue opinions about us. In fact, there are more gossips, one called Ask and another, quite blue, called Presearch. Don't forget Freud's opening line, "We are masters of what we keep silent and slaves of what we say."

The truth is that any search engine can "talk" about us, so it is important to take care of what we publish. And if it is on the web3 or on a blockchain, we must be even more careful, since it is immutable: what is published there, stays there. Forever. For this reason, we had better listen to the ancient Greek poet Hesiod, who tells us:

"If you speak badly, you will be spoken of worse. "

Believe me, when it comes to the Internet, this phrase is law.

OUR CONTENT IS OUR LEGACY.

In our passage through this life we leave footprints, marks, seeds that, even if we don't know it or imagine it, will germinate somewhere. A piece of writing will inspire a child to dream of becoming president of his country. Your video will teach a housewife how to make a dessert for her mother's 100th birthday party. Your photograph will let an engineer know that what he has done so far has not made him happy and that professional photography is for him. Your poem will be dedicated to a woman and will rekindle passion in a couple about to separate. Yes, my friend, your content leaves impressions, often indelible. I have already said it on a couple of occasions. What we post on the internet is our legacy. Every single thing we write, say and do is there waiting to be seen.

When we understand what you just read above, we will think better about what we publish. And I don't mean low quality, I mean the value we add with our content. I have seen very poorly recorded or edited videos, but they have taught me a lot about a topic. Blogs that are not very graceful or in extremes simple with powerful reflections.

"If you talk bad, you will be talked about worse." Remember this, because it's in your best interest, because even if you forget, the internet will not.

What Google says about you may prevent someone from wanting to get to know you better.

If someone searches for your name or your brand on the Internet, what will appear in the results? I only wish and hope that what is shown there invites to continue knowing about you and not the opposite. If our desire is to gain customers, followers, audience, influence and so on, then let's be careful what we say. The message is more than clear and reiterated in all the paragraphs of this post.

In the next chapter of this series we will search the internet. I will show you what the most popular search engines, and some unknown ones, say about me. And I will show you how I did it so you can do the same.

Leave in your comments questions, suggestions, contributions, tricks, reflections or refutations about this. Anything you wish to express will be of immense value to all who are embarking on this journey to create or renew "My personal brand from scratch "..
