Interesting choice of topic. I wonder why did you decide to focus on Italy?
Their debt problems have been quite an issue for many years already and nothing seem to be changing in that area. And I think that as long as Italy is important part of european union - they will not suffer much. EU will probably support them with freshly printed EURO and bail them out.

They should be able to "survive" until next major crisis. That's at least my impression....
