Looking forward to Steemfest5
This is a picture from around 3 am in the empty streets of Krakow 2018. SteemFest3. I did a lot of work in order to be able to get there for those days and I am glad I made it, as I met some great people and had a lot of fun. The meat from this grill was the best grill I have had, but that might have been the drinks talking.
It is funny to think back to all of those hundreds of people excited about and discussing the future of Steem and then, see many of them go away and start building - @SteemPeak for example, @steempress, @splinterlands. It was also great to have discussions and put some water under the bridge with some of the people who I had clashed with in the past over what I believed was counterproductive to the future of Steem.
It is funny to think back to those times and despite the bear market driving prices down from the ATH of 8 to less than 2 at the time, people were positive. Past that, it of course dropped further and went from 2 all the way down to 0.10, and still people were positive. 2 years of bear market and the active core community worked toward the future of Steem.
It is funny how incredibly fast so much energy can be destroyed once one takes away the why, the reason to keep going. Wile many of the devs and users were looking to make gains, there was also the underlying ideals that most held that they wanted to make their gains in a place where many had opportunity, people were more free to try and of course, fail.
There have been many failures on Steem, but the greatest has been at how the actions of the last weeks have driven the most engaging and active user base off the platform. It is a testament to how poor the decisions have been.
I didn't make it to Steemfest4, but I wonder if there was, what would Steemfest5 be like, would it be a vibrant community looking to build projects, or a group of investors trying to work out how they can make a little more for themselves?
Time will tell.

It seems unlikely there would be a SteemFest5 but you never know.
As a point of speculation, would "HiveFest1" be weird, since many there would already have four previous conferences under their belts?
It'll be interesting to see what the future holds. And you may be right; SteemFest could carry on, but as an "investor symposium."
=^..^=
I am guessing not.
When I say "looking forward to" it doesn't mean that I am looking forward to it as an event for me to attend, it is the direction of where it would be in the future. If there is one, I am not going.
I actually talked about this at SF3 with someone once SMTs come out and STEEM becomes the investment token. But I do not think SMTs will launch on Steem either.
Ummmm steemfest 5? You been drinking?
Who's gonna organize it?
Virus + no organizer ... i'd say odds are slim to none.
I'm sensing scheduled post written a long time ago? hahaha
:D
I am guessing all those who voted for sock puppets :D
Nah. I just wrote it - I don't think there will be an sf5 and if there is, I won't be there.
Where is Hivecon gonna be?
Hivefest?
Honeycon
The pictures black and white appearance with that one light creating a cone of light of light is symbolic to me of how things look dark on Steem as reflected in your story, but the light suggests a ray of hope that things will get better on Steem and happy bright times may one day return.
But only time will tell.
Tarazkp you are indeed the “continual writer”.
😊
Steem is forever changed, I don't have much hope that it will ever house a startup community culture again.
360 upvote coming :D
I bet.
