You lost control of the blockchain that you were supposed to protect.
Why? Because we didn't block exchanges as well? What would you have preferred they do?
We took what we thought was appropriate steps to secure the chain and they got around those steps by colluding with exchanges in an unprecedented way. It proved the actions taken were not irrational because the chain was taken over and controlled by a single individual.
@lukestokes I was and still am behind the steps taken to prevent it. No one saw the threat vector of exchange stake and I am not casting blame.

Is just me stating a fact and nothing more.
I understand it hits a raw nerve but it is an important fact and not meant in a hostile nor judgmental fashion.
EDIT: Sorry to not answer your question as to what I would have had you do. I voted on Witnesses believing they would do everything they can so I do not really have an answer and am not interested in past events per say.
