Makes you wonder if the original Glenelg was created as a name because it was a palindrome (although it probably wasn't called that then) or just because. Coming from Scotland, who knows.
It was named after Lord Glenelg, a British member of Cabinet and Secretary of State for War and the Colonies. So, yes it derives from Scotland (Glenelg, Highland, Scotland.)
